New forms of weather, and various ideas for additions of natural disasters have been suggested, but never in an actually organized format. I plan to take other thread ideas (With due credit), and to merge them into a central place where the community can merge their ideas with others, instead of scattered ideas which may have been great but were overlooked. It is hardly an overstatement to say that weather is a large part of life in the real world, as it affects many aspects of human life. In minecraft, it has the ability to add more interesting playing environments, dangers, and challenges.
Many things have been suggested, such as:
Weather
Harsher rainstorms
Real thunderstorms
Dust storms
Blizzards
Seasons (Pretty much a different topic. Please stray away from this other than "occurs during x season" and whatnot)
Wind
Freezing Rain
Weather fog
Ect.
Natural disasters
Tornadoes
Hurricanes
Floods
Earthquakes
Meteor Strikes
Volcanoes
Agreeable Limitations:
Some form of menu option to disable the weather/natural disasters.
Playing on easy will result in very little to no harsh weather/natural disasters
Playing on hard will result in more frequent or strong weather/natural disasters

What about desert heatwaves? What about hail in some thunderstorms? What about tornados? What about earthquakes? What about solar flares? What about droughts? What about meteorites? WHAT OF THEM? My point is... Uh... Nevermind I forgot my point.
I want floods.
I want heavy rain.
I want lightning storms.
I want massive windstorms.
I want blizzards.
I want deep snow that slows movement.
I want sandstorms.
I want earthquakes.
I want tornadoes.
I want hurricanes.
I want to see an optional achievement system to unlock higher tier tools, recipes, and materials.
I want to see Minecraft SURVIVAL made even more deadly and dangerous and fun. If you don't like it... don't ***** play SURVIVAL. Go back to your safe, quiet and peaceful creative servers.
Weather in Minecraft is so simple it needs an upgrade. I hate how all of a sudden it starts raining or snowing. There needs to be some sort of transition, like dark clouds rolling in and raining, and also big storms like hurricanes in Ocean biomes that can cause waves and raise water levels along shores. Please give any other suggestions or comments.
I've enjoyed the wonderful weather effects in MineCraft ever since they were added. However, I think most people can agree weather is still just halfway finished, due to the circumstances in which it occurs.
Minecraft weather is not really interesting, let's face it. Rain and snow are nice, but they don't really have atmosphere like they should. One solution would be to add fog during weather.
That sounds like a brilliant idea, but it should also come with options to turn the individual weather systems off, that would be nice!

I've always thought more weather would be very interesting, but seasons are something I will never agree with. I like Minecraft with one season, maybe there would be different conditions for different types of weather, but I don't want seasons.
I can see where you are coming from, but I feel there are many people who would like seasons. This is why I (among many) feel the strong need for a menu option (either when creating the world or one that can be changed ingame), so that people can have what they want. Someone said something as to why they like seasons that I wholly agree with but I cant find the post. It was about no animals or plants growing in the winter. They said somthing along the lines of "I like seasons, because the feel of stocking up for the winter is fun" I think it WOULD be fun, to have a period where you would have to make do with what you had. Enough about seasons though.
A problem I saw pointed out once in a thread I made was a problem with too many menu options. Although I agree, and I think that there should be menu options for pretty much everything, I did notice that this point is quite valid. It was something along the lines of, "If you make options for everything, then people will no longer know what normal Minecraft is, they will argue about what is vanilla or what is legit, and there will no longer be a standard for the game because everyone's game will be different."
Now, I personally feel that it wouldn't matter if people couldn't agree on what was standard and whatnot, because I feel like the menu options would be useful, but it is indeed true that this would happen, so I don't know if more menu options is the best idea.
I like some of these ideas. I would like sandstorms (gentle and rough). Gentle sandstorms show a brown re-coloration of the snow texture, moving at rain speed, randomly placing sand layers (like snow layers, only sand). Rough sandstorms are fierce. Render distance is forced at tiny, has the same texture as rain, but with brown instead of blue, falls 3 times faster than rain, and randomly places even deeper sand layers (dropping 1 sand bit per level, 9 sand bits make a sand block).
Also, blizzards should replace thunderstorms in snow biomes. It uses the snow texture, but falls at rain speed. Randomly places deeper snow layers (1 snowball per 2 layers). Occasionally, though, a blizzard should become a hailstorm, where you loose health at the speed as you do when standing next to a cactus while outside. However, hailstorms shouldn't happen until day 3. All other biomes have thunderstorms.

Options
|| || ||
Settings
|| || || || || ||
Mob settings Video Settings
Weather settings ect ect
Natural Disaster Settings
The 's are just placeholders because the forum doesn't allow random spaces. || || || denotes the subcategories seen when the above option is clicked.
After which, the rest of the settings would be seen in an organized menu.
