Actually to be honest I wasn't even thinking about Fable. But your comment brings back memories of running through towns killing everyone in sight. Lol.
Meaby add so if they are being no monsters inside the town parameter the reputation will rise, as that mean you have made a fenced area around the town, thus protecting them. That will reward you for protecting them, as for now you can rise you rep by making the mobs follow you inside the village and then kill them in front of them to get good rep,
As about the iron golem adopting you, the will attack zombies that are in sight annyway so why make it?
will every town have their own reputation with you? or will you kind of be baned in one town if you go on a killstreak in another?
Will avery villager member have a different rep to you? Beaby then give a bonus if they are born or children whit you in the area, as the will grow up knowing you. And giving cockies will rise the rep with that child,
You gave me a lot of great advice! Thanks for your input and thank you for taking the time to read my suggestion and comment. I'll add some of this stuff!
Meaby give a stronger rep punish if you hits a golem (guards) and a even stronger bad rep if you hit a child. And killing them will make it a loot wors than hiting.
Breaking or griefing blocks - What if the gravel is all fu***d up, or a door is 5 blocks off the ground?
Attacking a villager - What if the villager is being a pain in the a** and keeps getting in front of you, pushing you, or moving to where you want to place a block?
Those are the concerns I have with this. Besides that.... I support.

I find the lack of turtles in your thread disturbing
It sounds very good! I love this idea! but i think if you have a good reputation villagers fight for you.... vise versa.... if you have a bad one they attack you with golem aswel...
Great idea! maybe the blacksmith will even give you a few goldbars/emerald if you smelt something at his furnace! and then giving it to him! new ways to get good reputation! here is some:
giving iron golem a rose to give to the kids.
crafting a new iron golem.
giving roses to kids.
crafting armor/weapons for blacksmith.

With what AnimeMiner said, villagers should actually 'let you in' if your reputation is high, and possibly allow you to take what you want/need from their chests.
On a flip side, they may choose to hide/lock up their chests if you continually steal from them.
I like this idea, but you should remove the long period of time without monsters in the village reputation gain since if you are 128 meters away or more, monsters will not spawn in the village and despawn if they try to walk in.

Why does everyone think I don't have an avatar? Is there anyone who can see the one black pixel.
Please click the dragons, they need to grow. Also, my fully grown dragons can be found in my bio.

Like most of this idea a lot, it adds some much-needed complexity to villager behavior. Not sure a player's reputation should be affected by dying, and if it were, I'd think a player's reputation would improve after sacrificing his life for the good of the village. I'm also not sure I like the occasional random experience orb as a reward, I think I'd rather motivate the player with other benefits/consequences. What if the villagers were to steal items from the player's (unguarded) chests if his reputation got bad enough?

Thanks for all the advice, and maybe the expierience orb thing was a bad idea but in all honesty I was trying to come up with a list of small rewards instead of one big reward if that makes sense.
And if villagers could choose to be good or evil it would require their behaviour to be at least two times as complex as my idea suggests. I don't know if that would be reasonable to code but it certainly would be interesting to see.
What do you define as an "ungarded" chest? With the villager AI they can probably find anything they want if Notch or Jeb were to code that in.
Then meaby only if the player are within the village. If non monsters spawn and you are inside, its then bacause you made it secure, by making fences and light, I belive they would appreciate that their homes was secured by you.
I like this idea because its simple and realisic, but lets stay away from doing quests for the villagers
I'm not sure how I feel about quests for villagers. But it would definitely take away from the building in Minecraft. Thats why I chose just small actions around the village to add or take away from reputation.
Thank you for taking the time to read and reply. I really appreciate it.
I added it, thank you for the tip.
