Ok Guys, I just dowloaded the 12w23b snapshot

I saw all these new features to minecraft, including emerald ore and Blocks

Seems to me, Emerald ore is a gem like Diamonds!

I thought we could use emerald tools, weapons, and armour

Vote and leave a comment!

Lets make this in the Updates!

Maybe better than diamond, but imagine how difficult it would be to make a full set of armour!

didnt jeb say he was going to keep it as currency only, besides, most people only use diamond swords and pick axes, the rest is iron and some people with good resources might use diamonds, really they suite or needs perfectly, we dont need more tools and armor to collect, getting diamonds is hard enough

I would answer no, but it's not because it's too scarce. It's because the idea of making emerald tools simply sucks.

The biggest problem of emerald tools is that money should only be used for buying/selling purposes (and maybe as decoration too)
Also, we don't need anything better than diamond.
If I wanted to put a new tool/armor set in the game, it would be amethyst, copper, silver or something else to be between diamond and iron.

A currency should remain as currency. Do you use real money to do something else than buying? Nope.

p.s. you should put an option to vote as "no, because I don't really like it".

Well I feel emeralds should be stronger than diamond but less durable (due to it being less strong on the hardness scale)

Seriously, I don't support this idea.

Emerald needs to be kept as a currency for trading with Testificates. Period.

Let's think about this realistically. Would you use up all your $1 dollar bills for a nice shirt? Probably not, unless you're a counterfeit paper maker. In which case. I CURSE YOUR SOUL FOR BEING LAZY.

No. Emerald is the game's CURRENCY item, it has one use and one use only (apart from making blocks of it, which is understandable). Might be okay in a mod but there is no way in hell this is going to be put in MC Vanilla.

Not gonna happen. What if you owned a PvP server, used emeralds as currency, then one day all your minions made emerald swords and armor and overthrew you?
