My reasoning is the same average damage, but can't 1 hit kill you. And it will kill silverfish, sheep, small or tiny slimes/magma cubes, untamed wolves, and snow golems with 1 hit, but an Iron Golem can only do that to small or tiny slimes/magma cubes, snow golems, and chickens.
Alrighty seems reasonable. I will change it when I get home, because I can't really do it on my phone verry well
I have never been a fan of golem suggestion threads but this still does not change me. Why does it drop lapis? To me it just sounds like another golem suggestion thread except it is A LOT more descriptive, and the golem is stationary until a hostile/neutral mob walks in 10 blocks of it. Good job on not making me want to out right
flame yet another golem thread though .
EDIT 1: And it only spawns with a pyramid
iron golems are mentioned to protect villagers while gold golems are mentioned to protect the structure they are in from intruders.
if you look at the picture the glyphs are painted blue, that
is why it drops lapis. Anything else?
Im loving the idea but have one suggestion, The attack. Logic is this, Gold is the easiest to enchant and we need more ranged mobs
i suggest the gold golem be less bulky and perhaps holds a gold staff that shoots energy balls at the player, these can be knocked back like all others but will still damage the player ( less)
It also ties in with the more mystic and arcane feel of the pyramids.
my original idea was to make the left arm a L shape with a crossbow, but I decided ranged mobs are too easy to fight because they just stand there
I like it. Golden automatons protecting ancient structures? What's not to like? My only suggestion is that golden golems built by players do not consider their creator as an attackeable being... UNLESS struck with lightning, which makes them go bezerk and attack everything regardless of its standard mode rules (it's rare enough that it'd be a total surprise). They'd still attack non-creators, perhaps, even without a bolt of lightning.
Yep. I don't really like the idea of my creation attacking me.
Also, I think they should be:
-weaker, but faster (deals from 31/2 hearts to 5 hearts and have 28 HP, but they should walk at the same speed as a player sprinting)
-easier to make (just like this):
(where the notch is the pumpkin, yellow wool is gold and blue wool is lapis blocks)
It should have a more unique attack than punching things. Perhaps it spits golden nuggets at high velocity.
I Originally Thought it should have a crossbow arm and punching arm for a deadly melee ranged combo like the SpiderJocky but decided it was OP (over powered). What do you think about this? shoots bow within 15 blocks, if you go within 10 it peruses for melee?
Alright! Time to add my two cents -- was also nice of you to give me an honourable mention at the start there!
Health:
Makes sense, based on how the current iron//gold system works.
Attack:
Makes sense again, sort of. Close enough.
Spawn:
Here is where my first problem lies. While I whole heartedly believe all content should be aimed at SSP and considered for SMP, this seems like a player with a little bit of gold could creative what is, essentially a griefing machine since it is designed to kill players. Someone could make this near a spawn, or just outside of "town limits" and it would go around killing people. This is where my first major concern lies, in it's possible abuse that players have the access to make something that WILL attack other players.
This also seems like you could easily just dig UNDER the pyramid to the treasure area if the Golem spawns inside of the pyramid... and even if you spawn it OUTSIDE, it's more than 10 blocks away for you to still just dig under and get away with avoiding it all together.
Drops:
Seems like alot of nothing for something that is, essentially unkillable unless you have a bow or some trap set up -- although since you maintain they spawn INSIDE of pyramids, you couldn't actually setup a real trap to fight this without it killing you long before then.
Experience:
This seems awfully low considering the absolutely OPness of it being able to hit over more than one block infront of it, especially considering it could two-shot you even in Diamond Armor.
Behaviour:
I find this odd. My first issue is it seems like there is no reason for Gold Golems to attack other creatures. They are protecting the treasure and nothing else -- which means it should be protecting it from thief's, not random monsters that don't do anything.
If you kill a Gold Golem, why would another one spawn? Seems like it's just a way for people to set up mob traps to farm gold golems and thus get gold EXTREMELY easy.
I also don't understand why they would be able to attack through solid objects. Nothing else in the game can attack through blocks, so I don't get why this would.
All in all, I don't like this idea. It seems open to way to much abuse -- seems slightly pointless and the concept seems like it only works in a few areas, rather than as a whole.
Now I am going to leave this thread before someone cries to a mod saying I am flaming a thread.
Good Morning MineCrafters!.... And PurpleTopHat...
I have spent the last two hours rethinking my post
to bring you... The Gold Golem! (See Sh*tty Drawing Below)
EDIT: When I found a pyramid it was just too easy to get my 11 gold, 2 emeralds, 3 diamonds, 12 iron, and 9 TNT. there needs to be something more to protect it. Such as Gold Golems.
Health Points
76 ( × 38)
(Unlike The Iron Golem's 100 ( × 50) Because gold is less resistant than iron)
Attack Strength
EDIT: Strikes random damage count from 5 () to 19 ( × 9.5)
(Same as Iron Golem)
Spawn
In pyramids or anywhere created by The Player
EDIT:Only ONE Gold Golem will spawn in a Pyramid Drops
(3-5)
(0-2)
Experience
5
(Same as Creeper)
EDIT: Movement
(Same As Iron Golem)
And before you ask if it should be faster hear this. Gold is heavier than Iron so logically the gold golem should move slower. but i believe it should be the same.
REGARDLESS OF THE WORK SPEED OF GOLD TOOLS!
Speed and Efficacy are two SEPARATE Things.
The golems can be crafted using blocks in a similar fashion to Iron Golems. To do so, the player must place 4 blocks of gold in a T-shape on the ground, and place a pumpkin or a jack-o-lanturn on top, the pumpkin must be placed last. 4 blocks of gold are equivalent to 36 gold ingots, making creation difficult, as gold can sometimes be difficult to find. Gold golems also cannot be manufactured by a piston assembly line without player(s) interaction.
EDIT:Gold Golems will be "shut down" for 30 seconds after they are created to give the Player time to get away
Behavior
Gold Golems Stand Stationary until a Player/Mob comes into the line of sight (10 Blocks). Gold Golems will move quickly toward their target, and once in range will swing their arms up violently to attack, dealing 3½ to 10½ hearts damage and flinging targets away rather than into the air.
Gold Golems have a comparatively large attack range, allowing them to attack through a solid 1 block thick wall, even without line of sight to the target. If a Gold Golem generated as part of an Pyramid is killed, another will eventually spawn to take its place.
Gold Golems will attack all hostile and neutral mobs (Yes, The Player too) if any come within their sight, except Creepers, Wolves, and Ghast. Gold Golems likely do not attack Creepers because of Creepers' destructive nature, which may destroy sections of the pyramid.
A Gold Golem's primary purpose is to defend Pyramids from raiding players/mobs. (But using one as a guard in your prison/gladiatorial battle/boss for your dungeon, is also GREAT!)
(Here is a crappy sketch i did in 2 minuets)
Thank you for your time and patience.
EDIT: And for those of you that say that its just a pointless re-textured Iron Golem. Are PigZombies Not Just Re-textured, Re-scripted Zombies With Swords?
If you don't like 'em they will come to your house party!
EDIT: No, it cannot be tamed. No, they are not faster/slower than Iron Golems. No, Its not a ranged mob because that would be too easy to beat.

I think they should attack creepers if they are attacked by players.Nothing really attacks creepers besides snow golems and they and creepers annoying in my opinion.

All of the things you complained about in behavior are the EXACT trates of the iron golem. YES striking through walls too. If you do not believe me check the wiki. I understand the spawning concern, i get the misunderstanding of the attack list. but the damage. i made it deal LESS damage than iron golems. and it has less health than iron golems as well. and again, its your choice if you are clever enough to dig arround it.
EDIT: I Will Make Revisions To "FIX" Your Concerns

Also I could maybe do a techne model for the gold golem so people see it... more in game I guess, if no one else wants to make one.

Iron Golems are there for more than killing the player.
1) They don't aggro the player unless you provoke them
2) They do more than sit there. They attack mobs BECAUSE the mobs attack the villagers -- who designed the iron golems to protect them. There is a reason they aggro mobs. Yours has zero reason to aggro mobs.
3) Iron Golems can be kited. You're suggesting Gold Golems be put inside the pyramids, a small area that basically traps the player unless they've made an escape before going in.
None of the traits I complained about describe the Iron Golem, because the Iron Golem has a different purpose, a story and reason behind it and it's in a different location, effectively changing how you can and need to fight it (and you don't NEED to fight it if you don't attack the villagers or it.)

Hows 5-19 damage, and i don't change the speed. because gold is heavier it would logically go slower but logic is not everything in a game.

But gold is the fastest tool in the game but also the weaker... :/
edit: and I also made him weaker because it would be cheaper to make (-1 block of gold, +1 block of lapiz).
Mining speed and movement speed are two different concepts
