The 3rd one was a small jungle biome in the middle of an ocean, at least that was was interesting to an extent. I'm kinda annoyed with the "Popular seeds" revolve around a village or other structures. The seeds showed in the pocket edition were more interesting.
It's actually kinda funny when you scroll down the the Xbox part of the post, because the xbox 360 edition is stuck with 1.1 with no hill biomes, yet the most popular are seeds from beta 1.7.
Nice idea, but some of them wouldn't work very well. Could you imagine an ocean biome on the side of a mountain?
The terrain generator can be vastly improved, and it turns out it isn't very hard either.
I'm launching a new server soon called Terrafirma (I used to own an older one with the same name, and it's being reincarnated). The terrain uses TerrainControl , and I've changed it only very slightly. Some biomes now have much more variation, and I've designed it so that the areas that are very hill and mountainous are balanced out very carefully with much flatter terrain. All in all, it's very interesting to explore, and you're never quite sure what you are going to get. Massive underground caverns, awesome mountains, sand towers (columns of sandstone in deserts, similar to those found in real deserts), or sometimes just flat plains, or sloping taiga. It's really VERY varied.
I'll post the IP soon (when it's done) if anyone wants it.
Of course though, the whole point of this post isn't to advertise my server. I'm just making the point that with some very slight adjustments to the perlin noise algorithm used by Minecraft you can create stunning results that don't go OTT but still look incredible and varied. Don't start saying that Mojang are 'trying their best', because that's a stupid thing to say. Improving terrain is simply a matter of changing a few of the input numbers used in the perlin noise algorithm.
That post was made back when I was still new, much younger and didn't understand anything about these forums.
People do get older, mature, and actually start realizing when their ideas are stupid.
I’m actually going to admit there were.
And it isn't different at all.
You know what i think of people that just state their opinions with no arguments behind them? Either they aren't smart enough to bring one up, or they don't even know why exactly they support that particular idea and not the other one, at the same time thinkink that they have to have a clear opinion on everything, because indecisive people are treated like dumbasses in their minds.
Either way, when you take part in a discussion on any topic, you don't need to have a clear point of view, but when you do, some arguments would make your opinion seem more relevant.
Therefore, your words mean nothing to me unless you add some arguments...
2. We want extreme mountains and overhangs to have the possibility to neatly generate randomly in all biomes. We want neat, uniform, and NICE land masses to appear RANDOMLY in all biomes equally. (obviously excluding plains and swamps as well, of course)
Now, I will admit this is a good idea.
But "uniform"? No.
3. The majority of cave systems and Mineshafts actually come to an end eventually, and appear less often. Seemingly endless caves should be a nice find.
You can't just make a cave go on endlessly.
And caves are already fine just the size they are now.
4. We do not want chewed up and spit out eyesore terrain spammed all over the place - we want it to appear randomly and spaced apart to please players who like the wild terrain generations and the ones who like the flat lands for building.
The terrain isn't chewed up, spit out and spammed all over the place.
If you want spaced apart, chose "large biomes".
You want flat lands for building? Find a plains biome or play in superflat.

If you didn't understand, I didn't mean your ideas in particular. In fact I didn't even read them. It was a nice example of calling something stupid without arguments, just like you did with this thread.
The terrain is already plenty interesting.
Did you play Beta 1.7.3 to compare with?
And, other than mountains, I don't know what jaw dropping land masses you could be talking about.
Mountains. In forests and other biomes. Beaches, but they are just nice, and not jaw-dropping. Of course, I don't mean extreme hills and beach biomes.
You can't just make a cave go on endlessly.
And caves are already fine just the size they are now.
The problem is that they all are large and every area is swiss-cheese-like. Before some areas were like that, some had few caves, and some were almost completely solid.
The terrain isn't chewed up, spit out and spammed all over the place.
It is.
If you want spaced apart, chose "large biomes".
What's the point in large biomes, if everything inside one biome still looks almost the same?
You want flat lands for building? Find a plains biome
Which is still not flat.
Find something like this:
Why does this matter?
We don't have it now, and we're never going to have it in the future.
Because many people who don't fully read the thread see "Beta 1.7.3" and automatically assume that we want to bring back 1.7.3 terrain as is.
If you didn't play 1.7.3, you can't say anything, as you have nothing to compare with. Just as one can't say that Firefox or Opera (<=12.16) is bad just because he uses IE.
Yeah, the demands your wanting could take a while. Guess that shows how much Mojang cares about the people that helped their game become succesful in the first place. Also, our wanting could take a while what?
What I meant was how long it would take to implement the ideas.
Also, I'm done posting.
Quote me all you want, I don't care.
My opinion has been spoken.
Get off my back.
I don't think biomes should be changed more just modified. Mayb some new biomes would do that, or instead of new full blown bioimes just more sub-biomes.
Ex: Floating Extreme Hills
Ex: Extreme Hills Jungle
Ex: Floating Village
Man I just watched videos using the old terrain generator and I am jealous >:U Bring back old terrain generation!!!
Old Generation is not what we want. We want every biome to have a chance of a bigger height to avoid boring flatness and add in variety and an aspect that will make players want to explore Minecraft worlds because they will know that there are epic things and not just flatness and boringness.

I agree but if it's floating in the air what will be on ground? It will look like a chunk error. (BTW Villages aren't biomes.)
This may be a big comment.
I agree.
After the 1.8 Update the world looks plain BORING. BECAUSE of the update, I am actually not anymore playing Minecraft in PC or X360, I only test mods, say "cool", and leave. I wont play Minecraft anymore. The land is so horribly UGLY, that I cannot play the game. I don't care about the generations, I care about the world. Some people don't understand this because they are so confused from the generations. But... I don't care. I want the world to be RANDOM. All Beta 1.7.3 seeds were UNIQUE, instead of the same. They were all different, when nowadays Minecraft is always the same. Also, the colors are ugly. Beta 1.7.3 has nice green color, when current Minecraft has ugly green mountains, ugly green swamps, what looks horrible... The plains biome color is ugly, only color I like is the Jungle, and that color were used in 1.7.3. Thank you if you read this comment. And I hope, you, Mojang/Jeb see this post and fix this, and make the game look beautiful again.

Wastier is a word!
What argument do I need?
The demands are stupid. PERIOD.

How is that different?
What makes them stupid?
Something is not stupid by default. There has to be a reason for it to be stupid.
