I would love to see the option of creating a map of nothing but islands. Each island would be a separate biome, and separated by a good bit of water (i.e. boats required). You could have desert islands, forest islands, jungle islands, etc... This would make maps and compasses particularly useful. It would also make an interesting PvP map if each team gets their own island.
One thing that would help this would be the addition of palm trees to the desert biome so that desert islands have a source of wood. I would think that it would be easy to make these only spawn near water since that is what reeds currently do.
I like the archipelago idea, it'd make for a nice touch and balance out some biomes (like desert ones)
Although I suppose that it'd be a bit troublesome to do them (I'm not really very knowledgeable about Minecraft so I don't know if it's possible/how to make worlds, but if you (or somebody else) can do it, you/they totally should )
I'd love to see at the very least an islands/archipelago biome. I'm not sure about every island being a different biome, but a large area with a lot of islands would be totally awesome, especially for multiplayer.
This idea would accomplish essentially the same thing as the "biome specific plants" idea, but only involves a map generator and doesn't ruin any pre-existing worlds. +1

Allocators are no longer the future, we have Hoppers now. I still like them, though.

I'm thinking - Pirate Fortresses! :-)
