The pumpkin can be worn on the head to make the player stealthier: endermen do not notice players wearing pumpkins. How about making pumpkins provide camouflage? If a player wears a pumpkin, it hides his player tag.
In addition, a helmet enchantment can be added to do the same thing (if you want to also have the protection of a helmet). Currently, the helmet enchantments aren't very useful, either providing a little more protection or, at best, giving the player more breathing time or mining speed underwater.
I would like it if there were a Halo helmet in Minecraft (not the outward appearance, the Heads Up Display and such).

If Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were all destroyed, 99% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 1% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens.
Maybe have pumpkins enchantable, and only them able to get an enchantment to give this, but at a low rate so it isn't really OP.
Well, the reasons I was hoping it would not be OP were that
1. You have a pumpkin blur, making it hard to see. You can cheat to get rid of it, but you can also cheat to be invincible...
2. You can't wear a helmet when you are doing this, so you lose some protection.
An invisibility armor enchantment? Wouldn't that be really overpowered? Maybe a potion would work.
A potion would work better.
But, I would guess that "invisibility" is more along the lines of "transparency". The only example I can think of is the "Infiltrate" and "Dark Sight" skills in Maplestory: the player is see through, but they are still visible. Or if you've played Roblox, the equivalent of transparency set to 0.5
So basically, it's not like you can become completely invisible while using the potion/whatever, and (importantly) using the potion does not remove the name tag, using the pumpkin can. That way you aren't dressing up in a Herobrine skin and causing riots.

Thats an interesting idea, it would make PVP a lot more interesting.

No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...

Invisibility could be an enchantment providing actual invisibility, though.

Sounds like a plan...
