While an interesting idea, I wouldn't want to go through so much pain with my eye's just to achieve a 3D effect.
Ahem!
I consider myself lucky to own a pair of red and cyan 3D glasses.
The parallel 3D is the best. No glasses or anything needed, and it works without any eye strain. You focus your eyes on infinity, completely un-crossing them. It works as well as cross-eyed, which is PERFECTLY well.
I can easily cross my eyes whenever I want, but it causes strain. I don't use glassesless 3D, ever.
Try doing parallel. Focus on the image in the OP's signature, and try to get the dots to line up by UN-crossing your eyes completely. It works great, and it causes no strain at all.

so, instead of going cross eye and focusing ones right eye on the the left image and vice versa, you are saying to focus right eye on right image and left on left? or...?

It's hard to explain. I think that's what you do. When you look at it normally, you are actually focusing on the center. Your eyes are very slightly crossed. You have to uncross them completely. It sounds hard to do, but it only takes one successful attempt to get it down. I only had to try about 6 times to get it right.

ok, well i was able to get it to work with a smaller flipped version of one of my cross eye photos, but it seems to only work when the two images are no further apart than ur eyes are, which means u would have to play with a very small screen size...
Yes, people would most likely experience varying amounts of eye strain. Surprisingly, though, I was able to watch an 8 minute cross eye 3D video of half life 2 w/o any real strain. It most likely just depends on the person.
Good idea, I own one, but better is to wait for Minecraft 3DS! Or if you can't wait, make image for 3DS.
Also, VirtualBoy sucks so hard, even more than both Vista and Terraria together.
Edit: Sorry for bumping, its just that the first thing that this thread says is that the thread is still active. I also didn't realize how old this was, but again, sorry.
No thanks. I mean, crossing your eyes can hurt. If I do it for over a minute, my eyes start to hurt really bad, and I have to stop for a while. This probably wouldn't be used a lot.
Not a bad idea, but would be really hard to use. Just by the cheap glasses. No support. I am going to say this one more time.
Guys, stop bringing the threads back from the dead! It's annoying! It's happened waaaay too much, and is very confusing! Just stop!
Yes, but it SUCKS.
Well too bad. 3D can't be properly executed, so until we get the technology to make it really Really good, I'm holding off.
we already have non-glasses 3-D technology. It's just a heck of alot expensive
but anyway, I don't think this is the best implementation, as the cross eye would probably start to hurt pretty fast.
Yes, it does. I recommend "parallel eyes", the exact opposite (focus on infinity). It achieves the same 3D effect without eye strain.
There is/was a mod that did this, but it is/was really annoying to deal with. It wasn't a normal JAR mod.
They suck really badly.

The ability to play in 3D w/o glasses most people don't have the correct glasses required for the 3D mode that is currently implemented.

Yayyy, half life 2!
Terraria isn't THAT BAD on Vista.
