Remember MobDisguise, that fun Bukkit plugin? We can make that vanilla with some potions.
I'm suggesting the addition of Disguise Potions. To make one, you brew an enderpearl with an awkward potion (this way, it'll be somewhat expensive). The disguise potion doesn't do anything until you add another ingredient: the main drop of the mob you want to disguise yourself as. When using it, you are disguised as the mob for a certain amount of time, maybe a few minutes? For example:
When disguised, you do everything a normal player can do but move at the speed of the mob and move just like it. Any items you hold are hidden (no cows with picks floating in front of them). Also, it might be good if you got the weaknesses of the mob to appear more legit. Disguising yourself as a skeleton or zombie should maybe make you burn in daylight? Tell me what you think. This way, it's hard to tell if a mob is really someone in disguise. In MobDisguise, it would let you turn your head and stuff, which certain mobs don't do, and you could move faster than the mob should.
However, this wouldn't work for certain mobs because they move in ways that the player doesn't. No spider, ghast, enderdragon, slime, magma cube, or blaze disguise potions (I may have missed a few). Sure, special controls could be added, but the problem is that it would be overpowered.
This can be used to mess with other players, avoid detection by hostile mobs, spy on people [CHICKEN SPY!], and fit into 1x1 spaces that only certain mobs can fit into. You could also use it for videos and stuff where you want to have a "mob" be controlled by a person.
Oh, and this can be a splash potion! Now THAT is a way to mess with people. You can turn them into squids to slow them down or pigs so they get killed. You can turn hostile mobs, especially creepers, into seemingly harmless cows (this actually happened to me once with a glitch that made a creeper look like a cow to me). You can turn people's dogs into zombies and watch as they kill their own dogs by mistake
Spiders still jump though. But they climb walls by running into them. Spider could work, and still jump.
Flying mobs and squids could go up and down with space and shift.
Slimes and cubes would move by jumping while holding a direction key.
And that covers all incompatibilities.
I wasn't really concerned about incompatibility. I was worried that any potion that alters the player's movement that much (like flying and climbing) would be overpowered.
ohmygod I could disguise as a sheep. Think of all the possibilities this could bring. In PvP, you could be a lonely pig walking around the enemy base. When your team comes, you ambush the base as the potion thrower/trap setter/TNT bomber. You may be able to fool people. 'Why can't I breed this cow?' 'A mooshroom in the plains!? That's extremely rare!' Nether mob disguises should be exclusive to the Nether and Enderdragons should be impossible to disguise. ('WTFBBQHAX WHY IS THERE AN ENDERDRAGON IN MY HOUSE!?!??!!!??!?!??!?!?!?!')
ohmygod i could disguise as a sheep i wuv sheep and i wanna do it. full support make banner and i wear banner i also talk caveman kthnxbai. Translation: Oh my god, I could disguise as a sheep. I love sheep and I want to do this. Full support, if a banner is made I'll put it in my signature and I was talking caveman. Kay, thanks, bye.

Also, you'd have to use the dragon egg to make the dragon potion. I'd rather wait for them to make a real use for it before I use the rarest obtainable item
i great idea, i would also like a random mob potion so tht u can turn into a mob & behave just like thm, or it coul do sumthin like turn thm into a pig/villager/sheep ect. control wat they turn into and their inv is saved so tht wen u die, u drop the mob drop, and respawn as a human and hav ur old inventory, these can also affect mons, turn any mob or player around us into sheep, pigs, and chicken, also great if u r low on health
Full support, if a banner is made I'll put it in my signature and I was talking caveman. Kay, thanks, bye.
I made a banner in a couple of minutes using Acorn (I don't have Photoshop), but I don't know how good it is. Someone could make a better one if they want.
Ha ha ha, funny (and cool) idea.
I can see Pros and Cons if this idea is implemented in Vanilla Minecraft. Though it is a good idea, it's best for it to be a mod instead.
Everything has a drop but NPCs, if I remember correctly. I don't know, I guess they're off-limits.
But I just realized that the sheep could be a problem. They drop wool, but you can make wool from string you get from spiders and abandoned mines. It seems a bit awkward.

Sadly, it would be hard to make this a mod. Everyone on the server would have to install it, and it would be somewhat useless in SP anyway.
...yes. just do it.i would wub to be a cow,CUS THEY ALL GO BOOM! dat knuckle head players shouldn't be able to fly or climb! its stupid, we just want to disguise not be them!...oh well i guess you should think about it, its not like person would like to see a flying enderdragon at the normal world they would think you are hacking!

I disagree with the slimes and magma cubes, they should automatically jump just by moving normally. Also, climbing with a spider should just act like every sideways surface has a ladder/vine on it, you can crouch to stop yourself at a point, things like that.
