I also support this wonderful idea. I usualy use a mix of diamond block , glowstone and redstone lamp for stained glass looks. But actual colored glass...now thats what Im talking about.
Something I've been wanting since I started playing, support!

I honestly don't see why everyone is terrified of creepers, I've never been killed by one, and the worst that one has done to me is let my sheep escape. If you want an issue, try taking on a skeleton or cave spider.
i really like this idea i can think of so many ways to put this to use it waould be really nice to have implemented into the game i hope this does get added its a really good idea
I think the glowstone and colored glass would be a reaLly good use in custom maps, they could be used to set the mood, like red glass for an evil place or something. None the less, great idea!
You know, I completely forgot about this when I made my new topic. It's not about the same thing, but I did include a method for stained glass in there. Any problem?

Creating colored glass from colored sand is a great Idea, it adds so much to creative having two new types of colored blocks. though if you could die sand blocks by right clicking on it like dieing sheep I could see a desert biome turning into a technicolor mess if a greifer gets a hold of a lot of dies.

To be fair, that would be the prettiest act of griefing ever. Besides, it would be worth it to see people make pictures out of the desert only visible from above.

Maybe it should only be done in the crafting grid then.

I'd hate to rain on your parade, but I'm pretty sure a griefer wouldn't exactly be interested in painting pretty pictures by dying sand various colors. Unless you consider profanity and crudely drawn genitals "pretty".
The reason I really like this is because it's sorta like a light-colorer, which could be useful for things such as adventure maps and maybe even CTM maps.

But the glass blocks themselves would be impossible.
There's either alpha or no alpha in a pixel. There's no in between. You can't have a semi-transparent texture.
to change that would be a HUGE job and probably would break a lot of things. The way textures work in general would have to be redone.
Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
Bumber's got a point.
So not everything you place is the same.
