70% wants the horses in Minecraft. 20% doesnt care that they're around in their world. 10% doesnt want horses in Minecraft at all. - Soon or later they will be added
Yes, horses would be awesome, although I would like to add to your suggestion...
First off, it wouldn't make sense to have horses spawn in that many biomes. Plains make sense, forest makes sense, hill makes sense, but I can't see horses being in swamps, mountains, etc.
Second, I don't want another animal following me around. I say that they should stay around where you leave them.
Third, it should be half heart in easy, 1 heart in normal, and 2 hearts in hard. Getting kicked by a horse usually ends in severe injury.
Fourth, it should probably stay the normal 5 minutes after breeding since that's the way it is for all other animals in Minecraft.
Fifth, when you get thrown off, you should get thrown up high so you take fall damage instead of it ending up kicking you and suddenly becoming neutral again.
Finally, cooked horse meat can't heal 4 1/4 hunger points. It goes by halves... so 4 is fine.
I wouldn't care, but it wouldn't be very efficient. We already have a rideable mob. If Mojang had a way on fully controlling the pig to do what you want, then there really would be no point in adding a horse. And it would be easier for them to fix the pig, rather than adding a new mob.

Yes Minecraft do already have a rideable mob, but I dont think Mojang has any plans making the pig fast when you are riding it. The horse will be fast! - And adding a new mob in their coding takes about an hour for those guys, and maybe some bugreports in the snapshot period, thats all. Nothing less, nothing more.

- I disagree, in what I've written you can use a string on it to make it stuck where it is (you bind it). Therefor you should also have it following you when you havent used a string on it or loosened up the string.
Third, it should be half heart in easy, 1 heart in normal, and 2 hearts in hard.
If I understood you right, thats not possible in the todays coding. (Well it is possible...) But then they have to make a completely new system for every mob.

*4 1/2 (I believe it stands, if I havent written wrong.) is perfect in my opinion. Theyre almost the same as porkchop, musroom soup and all those. So I think it fits with 4 1/2 or 5.
I will update the post in what suggestions to the suggestions I got by now.
Well, there should be something that you could ride & actually control. I wish that either something like this happens or that you could control pigs and they would be a bit faster, i mean, currently saddles are useless. Yeah, they're cool but still useless.
Agreed that the saddles are useless... But I dont think they will make pigs faster... Because pigs isnt quite fast irl...

1) Must not have caught that, okay. But just a warning, cats and dogs will teleport to your position even when you make them sit and stay.
2) That's the way it is for every single enemy... It's no new system.
3) 4 1/2 would make it heal MORE than any other healing item. Porkchop, mushroom stew, and steak all heal 4, not 4 1/2.

2) If Im wrong, then it will be okay... But Ill not add it tough.
3) Then we have a new healing item that heals most of all food....
it does seem predictable so here is my solution...
4 different mounts!
pigs- basic but should be controllable and a bit faster than now, bonus sword and arrow damage when ridden
horses- everything you said but only spawn in plains boimes, bonus sword and arrow damage when ridden
yak- only spawn in snow biomes, can carry addition items, slow
giant tortoise- only in desert biomes, slow like the yak, extreme defense, can fire fame charges out of 8 muti-directional cannons
I like this because it keeps the horses but still add goofy, minecrafty alternatives
Im on the fence about this one... I can see why they should be added and why not. But if i had to chose i would add it to the game, single player horses will be easier to find only because in multi player it could have too much power and if tons of people riding horses around killing everyone that would just make the game less fun, so in multi player
Rare, about as rare as coal / iron but as horses.
The only problem I have with this is that horses are too... ordinary! Minecraft is a world where Ocelots come before Tigers, where Squids come before Fish! If Minecraft is going to have mounts I'd prefer them to be more whimsical than a horse. Perhaps wheat on a fishing rod dangled in front of a pig to control it!
You where almost right, lol XD.
I'm nringing this topic to live again to actually get this neutral mob into Minecraft!
I'm sure this has already been brought up, but pigs are all that is needed for rideable animals. You can ride them, feed them, etc. I don't see a necessity for horses.

I am agree with you at some points, like:

No, horses are special. Therefor 6 minutes
