I assume everyone has had the chance to encounter lava in 1.2.3 and hear the new 'popping' sound.
I have yet to run into someone who didn't think there was slime or blaze rods when hearing lava for the first time. It also gets annoying quickly.
I suggest:
- A more appropriate sound, similar to existing sounds of fizzing when you drop things into lava, or fire.
- Make the sound vary more, faded into the background more, and/or happen slightly less often.
It's bubbling. Lava does that. As of now, you've encountered someone who "didn't think there was slime or blaze rods (What?) when hearing lava for the first time."

But does it sound like bubbling? No, it doesn't, it sounds like bubble wrap.

No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...
Though thy idea ist noble, thou are not making a point that Mojang wouldst recognize as a priority. Over the years I have observed, and it is beknownst to me that Mojang hates to replaceth what they've already doneth.

You have 2 choices: +1 me with your computer,
or -1 me with your mind. One of them is less frustrating.
