So I like the potion brewing system, but I feel it could use more potions. Currently we have:
Beneficial:
Swiftness (sugar), Strength (Blaze Powder), Regeneration (Ghast tear), Fire resistance (Magma Cream), and Healing (Glistering Melon)
Harmful:
Poison (Spider eye), Harm (Fermented spider eye), and Weakness(Fermented spider eye)
There are three base potions, Awkward, Thick, and Mundane, but only awkward potion is used in any. According to minecraft wiki there are several potions semi coded but not implemented. They are:
Now I don't know anything about them, but I know I want more potions. Not all the monster's drops are used in potions. There are also some cool effects that could be implemented through potions
Invisibility potion:
Ingridient: Ender pearl? (I know, it's a stretch)
Effect: Would make you turn invisible, maybe mobs wouldn't notice you, would be really fun in SMP
Blindness potion:
Ingridient: Bonemeal?
Effect: Turn it into a splash potions, throw it at someone. Their screen goes all wonky for the duration of the potion, maybe think like flashbangs in COD (I shudder at making the comparison)
Jumping potion:
Ingridients: Frogs eye (I personally think adding frogs would be amazing, swamp biome creature, think about it, witchs potios usually use eye of frog, or eye of newt.)
Effect: Tier one would make you jump 1 block higher, tier two would be 2 blocks high
Knockback potion:
Ingridient: ???
Effect: Only for splash potion, getting hit knocks you back as if you have been sprint hit (I know this one is a bit of a stretch)
Water breathing potion:
Ingridient: Ink sac, or some new thing found underwater
Effect: Kind of obvious. You can breath underwater

I think we need more invert potions, using a fermented spider eye makes things bad, I think it could invert things. Inverting a fire resistance potion should make a potion of combustion!
I really want to see potion of resistance be obtainable legitimately. It would be great for the adventure map I'm creating, as well as other peoples' adventure maps.

I think blindness should be the corrupted variant of invisibility, it'd be going from "can't be seen" to "can't see."
And a water walking potion might be a good idea, it's corrupted version could prevent people from swimming with the space bar (potion of sinking?).
Corrupted water breathing could be called potion of suffocation, and either make you run out of air no matter where you are or run out of air faster underwater.

Also, I think your potion of knockback would make more sense as a Potion of Feebleness, which would increase knockback you experience from attacks. It could be the corrupt version of a Potion of Stalwartness, which would reduce knockback you experience.

The blindness effect is currently programmed to act like void fog.

Did you check what potions were removed? There was jumping, mining, slower mining, blindness, nasuea, water breathing, night vision and some more I can't remember. 100% they are just finding ingredients for them.

Funny thing: ALL these abilities are already coded in the game, but can only be obtained to the player by non-vanilla means. With bukkit plugins you can give people invisibility, blindness (though this is coded as void fog so it can become disabled with optifine) jumping, and underwater breathing. Some powers not included here are: Invincibility, Slowness, Quick mining, and I know there are more, but can't think of any more off the top of my head!

They're fine but the blindness effect already in the system would be easier to use than your suggestion.
