Minecraft is a great game. It is always growing and improving, but that is exactly the problem: There is always something more to grow or improve.
I suggest a simple item: the Twinkleberry.
This fruit grows on one-block sized bushes on the ground, and can be harvested by right-clicking. The berries will grow back in a few in-game days. You can take the bush itself using shears.
If you eat the raw berries, it will restore one unit of food, but will make you start hallucinating. After one berry, all you get is a simple, subtle... well... Twinkle around the corners of your vision. After two, the sparkles become more prominent, and the very edges of your screen become slightly discoloured. If you eat three berries, your screen will also slowly ripple. Four, and you will start seeing shadows of mobs in the corners of your vision and hear mob sounds, and after five twinkleberries you will start seeing blocks that aren't there, trees in the wrong place, mobs that don't exist, and violent whirling and wavering of what you do percieve.
However, these berries have an upside: You can make the Awareness Potion.
This potion is a combination of several subte cues and warnings that combine to allow you to sense dangers more easily. Hostile mobs are slightly louder, glow red a tiny bit, and make the sides of your screen go red a little when they are just outside of your vision. When a creeper hisses, time slows down by 5-10%, just not noticable, but still giving you an edge to respond. Endermen repel your cursor a little to make it harder to accidently provoke them, and mobs that hurt you from offscreen make a small red spike on your screen in the direction that they came from.
Sounds really cool to me, though taking down the bush with sheers doesnt sound right. If im not mistaken sheers are used for the collection of animal hide, not vegetation. I think the bush can be punched and have a chance of dropping a sapling of its type, for this situation this sapling would grow into a bush that produced TWINKERBERRIES.

Shears are not only used for animals, friend.
Every seen a 70's movie with a happy family in it? Sometimes, you see one of the son's, or even the mother trimming the hedges with hedge trimmers, which are shears.
There doesn't really need to be any more food in Minecraft. I mean, people already complain about how the hunger bar "ruins" the game, so why give them pointless food for an actual reason to complain?
I think bushes should spawn in plains biomes rarely, and when you cut them with shears they give you get maybe 1-2 sticks. That gives another use for shears and makes sticks easier to get (instead of having to cut down a tree and get extra planks and sticks lying around)

So you're saying that we shouldn't have another potion and hallucinogen because we don't need more... Food?
i love the idea but perhaps make it so in the potion some of the better side effects like slowing creepers/red arrows to where the mobs are comes from the addition of glowstone and if you add redstone the effects last longer( derp)
love the berry idea, always did wanna get "BERRY" high with my friend in mc HA HA HA HA. im not funny.

Glowstone amplifies all the effects. Thanks for the support!
I don't care what else it does, that one sentence stops my support dead in it's tracks because:
Your argument makes absolutely no sense.
Suppose I have a table with two buttons on it. One gives you five dollars and one gives you one dollar. You can press either button. Does having the one-dollar button ruin the five-dollar button? No, it doesn't, since you can just choose the five-dollar button. Same thing here. You could eat a berry, or you could eat a pork chop. Nothing is forcing you to eat the berry, so why does it matter? We can eat Spider Eyes, too- does that make them a pointless food?

In fact, now that you mention them, these are exactly like spider eyes- they're both potion ingredients, they both are edible and restore 1 food bar, and they both have bad side effects. That's what I mean by pointless, it's the same thing, the exact same thing as a spider eye.
Yes! This a an awesome idea, although maybe the name could change :tongue.gif:. And also I had a few thoughts for what you could add for the second tier. When a skeleton shoots arrows at you time slows down like the creeper thing, same with all projectiles (ghasts and blazes). If a mob is separated form you by a one thick wall you can see a very faint outline of the mob. And spawner music is louder and can be heard form further away.

Thank you! Good ideas, will put these in! Credits to Mad Cowboy!

C&C welcome! What do you think?

Well, there doesn't HAVE to be a downside... :tongue.gif:
Just because... What? What would I need to change, or why is it not good fo vanilla Minecraft?

DO THIS NOW
The awareness potion sounds like a good idea, anyhow. How long would it last?
love the berry idea, always did wanna get "BERRY" high with my friend in mc HA HA HA HA. im not funny.
Yeah, that would work too.
Because it's indirect (not actually making your character better, just making your perception easier), I'd say 3 minutes, up to six with redstone.
Glowstone amplifies all the effects. Thanks for the support!
