Right now, we have 16 colors to choose from, cloth-wise. I think it'd be a good idea if the color selection was changed to the MS Paint standard selection (which is 28 colors), and it includes black, browns, and other shades that we don't have right now that would be nice to have (mostly for pixel art).
This is the MS Paint color palette, for those who haven't seen it.
Ugh if we are getting a more colours let's NOT use the paint one, it misses a lot of good ones. There are better than those. I do think we need more colors though.
Except for that fact that that's... what, 256 colors? Let's NOT expand the filesize to infinity and beyond, shall we?
I know nothing about coding.:smile.gif:
Still, it might serve as a good starting point. Whittle out the colors that are too obscure or too similar.
If you look at the second link, it breaks them up rather nicely. You could remove the outer "splash" groups, and from the inner 13 groups take all the greyscale and 3 from each of the others....that'd be 42 distinct colors. Would that be too hard on the filesize? There should a good "happy medium" between color choice and file size that can be reached.
When I'm at work tomorrow and have Photoshop, I could take a stab at putting together a palette like that, if that's something people would like to see.

Or theres always Vista's Paint Palette :tongue.gif::
But honestly, the biggest color I feel is missing is black (that is, if your not an OP). Also maybe some duller colors than the primary ones we have now...
^I'd settle for that, certainly. It's much better than the XP palette.
I took a stab at a palette I'd like to see, using that second link. I had to up the number to 54 to get a good spread, but I think this would cover everything anyone would need within reason.
I'm not a fan of the Bright Orange, but I was trying to stay consistant around the wheel. It's all suggestion anyways.

Thanks. I did try to keep it lower, but ya know, if you're going to cover some of the spectrum, you really have to cover it all. And then I wasn't sure about how many hues of each color to have, but cutting even one row out really seemed to leave it lacking.
I know personally I wouldn't use all of them (over half maybe), but many of the arguments for "more color" that I've read have been for the people who do the pixel art, and I'm sure they'd love as many colors as possible.
^I'd have to disaggree, at least on the subject of plucking out just a few like that.
A "palette" should be complete. If you wanted to remove all the "obscure" colors, or some of the color sets (like pulling out Spring, Azure, and Pink), that'd be one thing. You could make a palette out of that.
But if you just remove the obscure red, or pick either the faded blue or or bright blue....well, you're just putting holes in the palette. Someone creating something with those colors would be lacking the appropriate shade. I don't think it'd make a big enough difference (size-wise) to bring them down to 52-51 colors. I'd hope to see this whole palette, but at least there should be a smaller, but complete, one.
BTW, I don't have access to photoshop at the moment, but my concern about the bright orange from earlier.... I would recommend ff6600. It's "Clemson Orange," and by far a better fit into that slot, I think.
Vista's paint colors are a lot better. It would make pixelart better.
edit:*opps, sorry, didn't notice it was a old thread, a thread linked to this one. But still, it would be nice*

We would need a Carolina Burgundy if we get Clemson Orange! (34-17!) ;DDDD
Something less than 60 colors should be more than enough to work with.

As a Carolina fan, shouldn't you know that it's "Carolina Garnet?" Just asked a guy in my office; you'd be pounded on for calling it "burgundy" :tongue.gif:
It may be an old thread, but still relevant. I was the one who linked to this thread from another thread, since it's still something worth doing.

Why not implement the standard color hexagon?
Even "simpler"..... http://www.visibone.com/color/poster4x.html

54 colors seems like a bit much, but I like it.

I think they can be left out, making the amount down to 52.
Also, 000099 and 0000ff are too similar, maybe only one can be left, smallening it to 51.

I could certainly live with that....although we could cull out the E's and F's.
