I'm actually waiting till we get some of the major stuff done first, and have a comprehensive list of whats in the mod, what's being worked on, and what ideas are being considered.
We really need to start getting that "Alpha Checklist" thread on the forums done, Nothing is going to be updated until then.
Of course it does, and we have been pretty productive so far. We got a forum for the necessary discussion of stuff, and we even got a coder who already coded a very early prototype of the mod. It's only a portal-system, some blocks and the dimensions and their generation, but hey, it's a start
I remember the forum I kinda left MC a while back >.> but good to see this is still going!
There could be a cloud 9 dimension. Just a huge floating island with a fancy mansion with lots of treasure and food. It could be like a lavish get-away dimension
BUTT
if you dig underground you find really scary caves with ghosts n stuff and there should be loads of strongholds beneath.
Suggestion: You should be abile to start in any world (exept the End) and then build up for the other worlds (exept the End
which you get to after the 4 bosses). For that I think instead of some sort of tree in the nether there are the bones of of giants
lying around that are used like wood in the over world. You can some times find hole skeletones half bured in the fleshy stone
which would look farily cool. There could also be dungiens in the skulls like giant rats nesting in there or something. The skulls
could include a spawner and a chest. Giant bones would be more unique, cooler, and (in my opinen) better fitting for the
nether. Just an idea.
Aqueous, how's themapples, Btw, someone is designing an alternate dimensions where it is a large city floating in the air, abandoned, full of mazes and monsters.
I like the idea of the water dimesion being a large caverin with huge lakes of water, with waterfalls falling form the cealing, a lot like the nether but with gemstones and water. and utiliseing the new hight limit by haveing a huge ocean on top of it all,
with huge casims and coral arches.
fishes!
I have a few thoughts I would like to add, as well as a (crappy) texture for kelp. First of all, remember when it was hinted that desert wells would possibly be a boss summoning area? I just thought it would be cool if it was a sand serpent that burrowed a lot and threw globs of sand at you (large enough to suffocate you if you're not careful). Maybe it could spawn two or three smaller snakes that just attack you like silverfish(sorry if this is OT).
I haven't made very many textures for minecraft so far, so If anyone who has had experience spriting could touch up on my seaweed/kelp sprites or at least review them or give me tips on it, that would be great! The seaweed replaces the Iron Bars texture. Anyways, here's a screenshot and the Terrain.png file:
Another thing: This definitely isn't necessary, but what if there was a dimension that was just a series of chambers specifically made for clearing yourself to go to The End? Say, you get some sort of block or key from a boss after you defeat it. Say, you have to go through randomly generated trials(with unbreakable blocks in survival) in the Sanctuary/Clearance dimension, to get to a gateway room where you put your proof in special pedstals or something and after they are all in place, a portal opens up and makes all of the previously impervious blocks breakable?
Alternatively, maybe the Clearance dimension (why am I thinking of pokemon's victory road right now? oh, right...) could also (or only) be after you defeat the Enderdragon, like your screen fades to purple then you get teleported there, and only when you clear the dimension do you get to see the end credits. It could also just check the world or some sort of player data to check if you've defeated bosses(making it compatible in MP), then opening the portal, similar to the old metroid games.
Or something like that...
On biomes: One way biomes could be drastically improved is by making them realistically placed in relation to each other. Taigas would naturally go well next to extreme hills and tundras in most cases, but not a desert.
there need to be a few tweaked new versions of existing biomes, like snowy extreme hills or good-sized valleys inside of extreme hills areas, as well as snowy oak forests, ect. Another big thing that needs to be added is sandstorms independent of rain/snow in deserts.
Other dimensions that may not quite fit:
A Neon dimension: A dimension where all of the blocks in it glow, even if it only gives of the equivalency of a redstone torch. it would most likely be a cave-like area with vast open areas. It would be nice if it had a fairly high static light level. Oh, also, Maybe some blocks in the dimension could even make a light level brighter than anything else in the game (light level 16 or 17) useful for repelling mobs that burn. However, a new monster could be added that only spawns at such high light levels (making it better to have super high light sources).
A Darkness dimension: Basically the antipole of the Neon dimension. In this area, torches dont shine as bright, and blocks leech light, making the area surrounding them darker. In the pitch-blackness, certain mobs would be able to spawn. Could also be a giant cave network, but with generally smaller caves that are harder to navigate than in the Neon dimension.
On the Underwater torches: There could probably be a simple way to code in wether they are occupied by water or air depending on where they are placed. The coding could be something, like if it detects any water on it's sides or on top of it, it makes the main block be made of water, but if there's none, it stays air sorta like how redstone works in detecting a power source. That way, they could be both out of and in water. Maybe it could even utilize the metadata of flowing water around it to make itself at the same level, but it would definately be easier to just make it act as a source block.
Sorry if anything here has already been mentioned before, but I hope I have contributed in some way
maybe beating the bosses of different dimensions unlocks different types of tools and weapons... eg
the nether lets you craft a type of bow that shoots fire arrows and maybe a swords that set mobs on fire (without enchantments),
the water one gives you the ability to craft a hat that lets you breathe underwater,
the sky allows you to craft boots that make you fly, parachutes that limit fall damage,
the end allows maybe arrows crafted with end stone, and they teleport you to where they land,
the overworld boss does nothing other than giving you xp

I don't think so, it needs to be fleshed out more I think.

I don't anyone using mine anymore... Oh well.

THE HYDROCITY! (sonic 2 reference!)
you could have entire civilizations underwater!
completley sealed away by reinforced glass domes, and special waterproof doors and windows!
which you get to after the 4 bosses). For that I think instead of some sort of tree in the nether there are the bones of of giants

Well, anyways, thanks for reading.
Nothing is entirely broken beyond repair, but usually beyond feasible repair.

Nope. The water pearl needs to use Kyther items.
