When Survival is released, it may be interesting to include options to modify new games (presumably to increase the difficulty). Assuming there will be scores and high score tables, each challenge could increase the score multiplier. I think trying to beat Survival under certain conditions will increase the game's re-playability, especially.
Examples:
Hunger - Vitality degenerates very slowly over time, forcing you to keep your belly full to avoid death.
Robust Fauna - Enemies have higher vitality, do more damage, or both.
Rusty Tools - Destruction takes longer than usual. Building gets a delay.
Shallow Pockets - Reduced inventory space.
Relentless Fog - Sight range is reduced.
Pacifism - Player combat is disabled.
Impending Doom - Survival must be completed within a set time limit (assuming a final goal is implemented), or the game is over.
I greatly dislike the hunger idea but the basic concept is good. They had better be not in multiplayer or at least limited there, though. That would bring back of the limitless expanse of hardcore servers in Modern Warfare.

What the fk would modern warfare servers having to do with this?
This more on modding and "mutators" or game types, over server hosting.

Eh, back in the day when I played MW it seemed the standard game servers were mostly eclipsed by specialty servers with non-standard settings. I do not want that to happen, though I do admit it's only a rather minor gripe. I don't see challenge servers, if created, as being a credible threat to normal servers. However, if there is a chance I feel I have to speak out against it.
snipers: skeletons can shoot you from any distance.
zombie apocalypse: only zombies will spawn.
these old bones...: only skeletons will spawn.
graveyard: only zombies and skeletons will spawn.
no place is safe: only creepers spawn.
arachnophobia : only spiders will spawn.
BACON!:creepers turn into pigs when in sunlight.
juggernaut: you now have 20 hearts.
dreadnought : you do twice as much damage.
farmer: all wheat "blocks" produce two wheat instead of one.
coal miner: you get two coal from one block of coal ore.
the bigger they are, the harder they fall: all hostile mobs are twice as big, do twice as much damage, creepers have twice as big a blast radius, and have twice as much health, but move at half speed.
Maybe later on, Notch would have to implement unlockable "secrets" that requires you to do some achievements or challenges to unlock it...
Like "recipes" for unlocking special crafting that doesn't impact the game, but adds to it in some way that it doesn't impact other players other than looks or function...
Like a unlockable "paintbrush" recipe that allows you to paint the surface of a block with a selected color?

Relic of a bygone age.

Read this part: "Homeless: Player does not start with a house (in indev)"
Meaning he's playing a indev version and has no idea what it's like in infdev?

As long as it stays optional, I see no reason not to add these into the game.
Other than I guess not feeling like working.
Whatever.

I like everything except these 3, IMHO there's a diference between nuzlocke(am I spelling it right btw?) and survival in this game
