I'm unsure if this is a good idea, I just stumbled upon it accidentally. I'm building with a friend and I want to teleport to him, he's building a lighthouse so I start typing "/teleport lighthouse" then realise it doesn't work and I need his username. This made me think: Would it be good for the admins to be able to "tag" things? For example, I could "tag" the front of his lighthouse with "lighthouse" then when I type "/teleport lighthouse" it'll teleport me to the block from which I tagged it.
Obviously there'd need to be a work around for conflicting usernames, but I kinda like the idea :biggrin.gif:
Wouldn't this require a way to activate the block and/or edit it?
Perhaps to work around username/tag conflicts, make different teleporting commands. Like:
'/tptag ' would take you to a tagged block.
'/tpuser ' would take you to a player.
I'm for this.. especially in large maps you can warp back to points and all that. It'd be really useful on the server I frequent as I hate having to run through the course every time to make sure no one griefed it etc.
I thought about this a few days ago, just never thought to put it into words.
The simplest way to do it would be like setting invisible flags at each point you want to teleport to. I often make things far away from the spawn, so as to avoid griefers, and it becomes a pain when I come back into the server and have to run all the way back.
So the commands would be
/nametag to set and name the tag, for example, /nametag lighthouse would set down the tag where you're standing, which would be at the lighthouse.
/tptag to, of course, teleport to this tag. So all you would have to do would be to type /tptag lighthouse, and you would teleport to the point you were standing on when you first made the tag.
One thing I thought about would be making this available to all players, since griefers wouldn't know what tag was called what. Builders and miners may get smart and disguise their tags, so griefers would have even less of a clue.

/teleport WowIHaveAnExtremelyLongUserNameLol
one could type
/tp wow
That really annoys me, especially when griefers have names like li1li1l1i1lil that are impossible to type out before they do major damage.
Edit: Also, you have the best avatar EVER.

This has already been suggested. By me. :biggrin.gif:
