I would like to see an improvement in Minecraft software to make it so in the inventory u can stack tools and weapons, without any mods having to be used. I would see it as way mor flippin convenient that way than to have to waste free inventory spaces for every tool u have. I mean, u would take one out at a time and it would save a lot more space, thats for sure. :smile.gif:
I don't agree with this idea.
I still think that food is better unstacked, but the best form of healing ( soup ) is still unstacked, so I'm happy.
The game is easy enough with the vast amount of items you can stack and carry around with no extra cost, and holding 64 picks in your hand just seems silly to me.
EDIT_
-oh, and for future reference, your ideas will get a LOT more respect and attention if you can "lrn2tipe" correctly. :]
I mean, the reason why i see this as a good thing is so that in your house, you dont have to have anywhere from 7-8 chests to hold everything you have mined plus, all the tools you have created. Besides, i know you can just make and take what you need, but it would be hella more convenient to be able to stack tools/weapons so you have enough room to hold all of the other things you've mined.
Oh well, I tried
P.S. I do know "how2tipe" :tongue.gif:
This would eliminate the need to get better gear as you have potentially infinite uses of said item. Example is stone picks, if you can carry 64 stone picks, why do you need diamond except for blocks only diamond can mine?
64 stone picks = 132 uses x 64 picks. 8448 uses which is nearly 8 times the useful life of diamond.
That part is a bit broken.
SECOND
Each weapon/armor/item has a seperate durability, how would the game take into consideration each durability of the different items in the stack?
THIRD
The possible improvements on bag space are limited as an average player rarely carries tools to the point where he would need the exhaustive space improvements provided. The only thing that would happen is that it would REALLY BLOW IF YOU DIED IN LAVA.
This concept needs some reworking or explaining and I must DECLINE it as is.
You already hold ridiculous amounts of stuff. Tools are incredibly valuable.
Inventory space is one of the reasons that higher-quality tools are worth something.

it would make the game too easy. no more inventory management

Optifine is awesome!
Now, when can Notch start using 3D instead of linear chunks for minecraft? It would massively improve performance, and increase height limits by hundreds of times. There are mods out there that do that already.
My reasoning is that you would stack together, not only in your immediate inventory, but in chests, weapons/tools of the same type, made of the same material, together in stacks. it would be way more hella convenient that way than having to sort through 6 or 7 different double sized chests to find the stuff you need. :angry.gif: right now on one of my worlds, i have 8 chests spread over 2 houses :dry.gif: . i just think it would save alot of space. :smile.gif: another thing too, i only take like three shovels and three picks with me at a time, but along with the stuff that i mine, i barely have enough room in my inventory in the end :sad.gif: . oh wellMy reasoning is that you would stack together, not only in your immediate inventory, but in chests, weapons/tools of the same type, made of the same material, together in stacks. it would be way more hella convenient that way than having to sort through 6 or 7 different double sized chests to find the stuff you need. :angry.gif: right now on one of my worlds, i have 8 chests spread over 2 houses :dry.gif: . i just think it would save alot of space. :smile.gif: another thing too, i only take like three shovels and three picks with me at a time, but along with the stuff that i mine, i barely have enough room in my inventory in the end :sad.gif: . oh well
People should make this mod, tools take to much inverotry.Besides, they stacked food, why not tools?
Because tools are unique, they break wear down, and most difficult, enchanting.
What if I stacked a new tool with my old, enchanted pickaxe? How do you propose to fix that?
Yoshi did a good job of explaining it, please READ!

Hello.
I know where you sleep in your bed.
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I could only ever see this if it was only for unused tools and in chests only. I get that it may be an issue for some people, but really why not just keep stacks of the material needed and then just make the tool if you're at your house. Heck you could even keep it in the crafting pattern to show its for that tool.
I don't think that we be a good idea. Then it would be to easy.
Well, I agree with the Original poster here.
As Minecraft evolves, there are more and more and more types of items in it, so much so that the inventory seems ever smaller and smaller.
Come on, this is a game where a player can bring along 64 cubic meters of STONE in a *single* inventory slot.
The "It would be too easy" argument" doesn't stand up at *all*. If that is what you really believe, then dirt, cobblestone, etc., any full block, in fact, should not be stackable, too. personally I'd agree that it definitely wouldn't be too easy then. It would add realism because when you carry about 20 tons of stuff you'd to put in in a minecart or chest before coming back to work, instead of being able to carry thousand of tons of stuff before hav9ing to do that. It would very strongly encourage intelligent use of pathing rails and stuff. But I'd hate that kind of game, too.
Undamaged tools of a specific material definitely should stack, at least up to 16.
