Yes I see, but even if the damage decided the mob, the spawner would still contain the information of the spinning and the countdown till the next spawn, so pistons still wouldn't push them (I think).
However if they allowed silk touch to work again and implemented your idea of the damage you could place spawners and they wouldn't reset to default.
And even though I'd love a way to move spawners I think it will never exist, just consider the changed silk touch because it allowed you to move a pig spawners, they'll never add a way to move a zombie or skeleton spawner...
In 1.9 if you use a silk touch enchantment on a pickaxe then if you destroy a mob spawner you can pick it up and place it... Lol i cant believe no one has mentioned this yet...

But anyway silk touch was nerfed in 1.9.5 and no longer works on spawners.
Overpowered. I mean, if you could take a skellie spawner to a place you can build a proper trap...
It's not owerpowered, because dungeons is very difficult to find and in addition it's hard to det silk touch enchantment. As for moving with pistons, it is very time consuming to move block, for examlpe, for 100 blocks away...
I really dont think that's what they were intended for. They are used to increase the spawnrate of a certain monster thus making it harder to do something in a certain area.
Moving them would disrespect that point and would be OP
