spikes...
One of my biggest pet peeves is adding stuff that serves no purpose other being used to make one other thing. In this case, adding nails, which would only serve the purpose of being used to make spikes.

but it is kind of a nice idea
how you can make spikes by the type of a slab
and we can just think of another use for nails!!
i just thaught of spheres(or darts)
-curves and can not be thrown straight
-strong
-nail+stick
He never said that they were going to be added, but that it was a possible idea for sticky pistons. But they went with slime balls instead.
Although it would be nice to, since cacti have lots of disadvantages. Like not being able to be placed next to each other, not being able to be pushed by pistons and having to be placed on sand. Maybe you could make spikes with iron bars like so:
= Iron Bars
Also, they could be placed upside down and on it's sides like pistons. We don't NEED Spikes, but it would be nice.
i never really make traps since torches block the monsters from spawning..
but i'd REALLY enjoy watching those craps get crushed and smashed
Spikes actually would be interesting to play with. I'd mount them along my base wall for those pesky creepers that like to scoot along from the outside.
I don't need or want spike blocks (half-block with sticks in it), what I want are more geometric shapes like wedges (top point in the center), pyramids, and ramps (points in the corners) that can be used as spikes and more. I also want more control over facing like with pistons for these and for stairs and half-blocks so I can place them upside down when needed.

then you should go to Fortresscraft...
its got all the stupid and wierd blocks you can ever think of
cacti does little damage, can't be placed next to each other, and destroys the loot.
Well any block that deals damage on contact (lava and cacti currently, fire to? I've never tried it) should destroy the drops that touch it, spike shouldn't be any different then cacti here and why would it.
RenzXVI has the best idea for crafting spikes so far
but making nails with cacti isn't that bad :tongue.gif:
combining two ideas hehe
but i'm sure if spikes are planned than it's more likely to be designed by mojang
like how pistons were
I want me spikes

^ Don't let me die D:
If they survive the fall, they won't survive the spiks!
you don't bleed when you punch trees with bare hands

Well that's a pointless reply, here let me make one in kind...
See pointless, we're talking about Minecraft here not other games.

cacti can't do this:
- = Empty Space
P = Piston(sticky)
S = Spike block
PS--SP
PS--SP
then:
P-SS-P
P-SS-P
It's pistons pushing spikes into a 2-block-wide passage, stabbing whoever triggered them, or walked through with bad timing.
