Minecraft needs an option to brew beer, and introduce more farming opertunities and blocks to use for this process.
Here is a few ideas for new blocks and items:
Hops
Barley
Beer Glass (Glass/Iron)
Barrel
Brewing Station
These would not have to be a core gameplay feature but a fun optional extra for people to do and use.
This could also be put into the NPC villages (PUBS) and will make the game fun and interesting.
Wine could also be implomented into the game as well, giving multiplayer worlds class and have more fun with friends.
I know that it may encourage actual drinking so it is not the best idea, but it would still be fun for an interesting experience in the game.
It is highly unlikely that Mojang will do anything that would give Minecraft an ESRB rating higher than E10. Right now, they have a sizeable number of younger users to the game, and it has been "kid friendly" from its release until now. Suddenly adding in alcohol, or any other content that could change it from an E rating to one of T or higher, would upset the parents of those players, who purchased the game in good faith that it would be age-appropriate, and it would generate a great deal of negative publicity for Mojang as a company. With the release date of Minecraft fast approaching, and a legal battle for their upcoming title "Scrolls" under way, this would not just be a bad time for the company to be making questionable marketing decisions, it would be the worst time.
@skycry ... you just pulled a "there's a mod for that". Also, if Notch made apples easier to get, you could do cider instead? Maybe that would keep the parents happy.

i think that to be a much better idea, forget the beer part of it, i like the idea of cider, which would make it a rare thing to make in the vanilla game, because you can only get apples in dungeons, giving a "must get" thing in the game for its rarity.
Also Golden Apple Cider?

i agree with what you said in its full form, a bit of a stretch for notch with his recent lawsuits, so i think beer mods are whats its at for the time being.
Im fixing my eyes on cider now
Dude, check the times of the original post. If it was 2 hours from when you posted, he technically posted 18 hours before that... Therefore, they should be the ones searching.
Personally, I think its a bit of an odd Idea... I mean, it seems realistic, but doesn't seem like it would add to much too the game, except a little... End game to kinda keep going and doing whatever you can.
I agree entirely, it would be for like an odd and interesting achievement to get and shows that you have done everything that could possibly be done in the game!

lol probably
Might be something like The Hangover, where you drink 3-5 beers, and you fall asleep to wake up in a random spot.
That would be FRIKIN AMAZING
Edit: Pretty sure I just unintentionally summarized the above post.
I hope he agrees that those ugly trees should be able to make my favorite soda.
