I'm sure a DS could handle Minecraft Classic. The 3DS could maybe run Indev, as long as it wasn't on the floating islands setting.
Then again, it could probably run it fine, I'm not sure about the power of the 3DS.
But if a phone can do it, a DS can! And there have been people before who said Minecraft wouldn't work on a 360, and yet here we are, with a 360 version coming out in the future.
it will never get ported to the DSi or the 3DS, they just dont have the hardware specs, to compare a 3ds (currently the best DS for hardware) to the closest platform minecraft is on (xperia play):
Ram: 128 mb (3ds) vs 512 mb (Xperia)
Cpu: dual core 233 mhz? (3ds, unconfirmed, havent found a reliable source) vs 1 ghz (Xperia)
and those are just the generic stats, generally, the Xperia has a ton more power then the DS, so even if it was on the off chance ported to the DS, minecraft would likely be even more stripped down then the Xperia version is already

I may have an xbox 360 but I say amen to thaty brother. PS3 should get in on the minecraft movement aswell.
Sony approached Mojang, but they have a contract with Microsoft which doesn't allow them to have the game on PS3. The XPeria Play version is going to be as close as we get to PS3.

I would love for minecraft to come to DS but not just the DSI and the 3DS like most games are now. I would want it on the origonal DS aswell as the newest versions.
Thats asking them to code it twice. Not that fun considering if you wanted a good game. But i do think it is possible. let us think of the controls. Embed Removed
First: Screens:
Bootom: I think the bottom screen should be the inventory screen. Lots of boxes around a central box that i will explain next.
Top: the top screen should be the game world, as i think only the top is 3d.
How would you move?
The slider stick would be movement. Allowing you to walk forwards, back, side-to-side or diagonally. Very easy movement.
How would the view change?
Well i guess slidiing you stylus inside the central box in the bottom screen would do it. as i recall Metroid:Hunters used this and i had fun with it. Sliding up would move your view up, sliding right would move right and vice-versa. Letting go would keep the screen the way it is, but double tappping would reset it.
How would you mine?
Depressing the left shoulder button.
How would you place?
Pressing the right shoulder button.
What would the yxba buttons do?
hotkeys for your favorite items or AXE PICKAXE HOE SWORD (with farming more intergrated.
And the d-pad?
no use.
Well there you go

Um you do relise that the reason minecraft is so hard on RAM is that it is all Java right? so its all cpu and ram power.
If the game was being made for the 3ds then it would be programmed completly different. The Xperia game is probaly not even code-based on the pc version.
RAM -------- 128MB BUT this ram is TWICE as fast as the Xperia ram
STORAGE ---- 1.5GB
CPU -- DUAL CORE 1.33MHz
GPU -------- 200MHz
All in all the 3ds holds up pretty good. But keep in mind that the 3ds is built for games. thats what it does. its not a cell phone that plays games. IT IS A GAMING MACHINE.
That means ALL the ram and cpu goes towards the game and not the os. Anybody with vista will know what i mean. the os eats up all the resources and doesnt leave much else.

I don't know, but pricing worries me. All the DS games seems to be around 50 euros, I got the mobile version of Assassin's Creed on my iPod for 5 euros. The DS version? Around 40 if I remember corretly, though I didn't buy it.
3ds games are all 40$ here in canada so it would be around that.

Every new platform probably requires rewriting the entire minecraft. So first we rewrite it on xperia and xbox 360 than if the Nintendo comes to minecraft we may get it on said companys gaming devices. Also im pretty sure EVERY different gaming system has its own code

no not really, there are ways to "port" games over to other systems. It why IGn and the like will reveiw a game on a certain system or another, as they know thats the one it was made for.

The Wii isn't like the Kinect, which has no interface other than body movement (resulting in that star wars game where everyone just walks up to you to be killed) - the Wii has buttons. Even if they never mentioned the actual Wii, I'm just pointing that out.
