Have you ever had any problems with stealing in a server?Anything similar?
Then this is perfect to find out who is doing it(Or just plainly eliminate him :tongue.gif:).
My idea is to have a block that looks exactly like a chest, but instead of it just opening when you right-click it, it will also send a power current for a brief period(1 or 2 seconds). This could make a perfect combination for traps with pistons or TNT !
The recipe could be this(logs are planks, torch is redstone torch and red wool is redstone dust):

Would not work because the only thing a person has to do is have a texture pack that makes it not look like a chest. But you did have a good idea at the least.

The texture pack would ALWAYS be the same as chest, meaning it would change with the chest, it would have the same place on the image file, so it can be unmodified without modifying chest.
it COULD if it wanted to, but with texture packs, nothing is limited. you could make the chest-mimicking block into a crafting bench if you wanted to. so it could have the same texture, but where im coming from is that this block would not be needed because texture packs could easily override it.

The chest should open when clicked on at the same time as releasing (and have a click noise like a pressure plate) so the trap has more time to go into effect.
If you edit the wood texture in the terrain.png file you'll notice the texture for fences (among other things) changes at the same time. It would be like that.
Sure, the player could get a mod that assigns different textures to different chests, but that's just cheating like using an X-ray pack. If texture support is added to prevent X-ray packs, the same could be done for chests.

Yeah, like he said, I do know some about texture packs.
I also think this is a great idea.

that makes a note block

You don't know much about texture packs, do you?
