Most people don't like minecrafts combat system, because you just click, click, click until the enemies die.
I have an idea that will make minecrafts combat system more interesting, without creating new weapons, enemies or complex attack moves. (which most people already suggest)
i suggest that all monsters should have a weak spot. when you hit this spot, with melee or a bow, it does extra damage. (or maybe have a different effect)
this works just like a headshot, although it could be on other spots too.
the different kinds of monsters will have different weak spots, so you have to think about where you have to hit them.
my suggestions for where those weak spots should be:
for zombies, zombie pigmen and creepers, it will be the head, because, even know they're zombies, they're still organisms, and the head is probably the most important part.
for spiders, it will be the legs, because the head is way too easy to hit, and the legs are a spiders most fragile parts, right?
for skeletons, it will be the legs. not the head because skelly's don't have brains. the thin bone legs, though, are quite fragile.
i suggest that when you hit the legs (maybe twice if you're using your fists or a wood tool), it will do normal damage, but the legs will snap, and the skelly will be immobilized.
(it will still shoot at you of course) this can be useful for escaping from a group of skelly's.
EDIT: i'd like to add some more of my ideas:
another possibility is that when you hit a creeper at a surten spot, perhaps the back of its head (you'll have to be unnoticed for that), it will trigger the creeper to explode. that way you can take out a group of unsuspecting enemies.
if Notch ever includes large enemies into the game, they could have multiple weak spots.
for example, for a giant, you could shoot at his shoulder, and after a few hits, his arm will fall of. this has no side effects, since he, as of now, doesn't use his arms, but would just do a lot of damage.
shooting someones arms off sounds pretty brutal, but with minecrafts graphics, i think it would look rather funny than violent.
what do you think about this suggestion?
If anyone has any ideas on how to make it better, please post it in the comments.
yeah, i though about that too, but since the ghasts always float high in the air, the tendrils are often the first things you'll hit.
it should require a some degree of aiming to hit their weakspots, ye know what i mean?
There is a tread regarding how to improve combat in MC, one of which is that armour protects different areas of the body.
But from what I gather, this is only with regard toward other players, not focusing on mobs weak points.

Personally, I like the idea of this, but I don't feel that location damage suits this game engine. I would rather see different creatures more prone to damage from different weapon/tool types and materials, the correct combination of which would result in one-hit kills.
For example:
Creepers would suffer most from Swords and Gold, so a golden axe would cause major damage, and a golden sword gives the instant kill.
Zombies and Skeletons suffer from Iron, iron swords for zombies, but iron axes for skeletons.
Picks or Bows for Spiders. Take THAT, stupid exoskeleton shell!
And, etc.
It would be even cooler if, when you were wearing armor the creature was susceptible to, they took damage when they hit you!
It might actually give golden weapons and armor a purpose.
At first, just from a glare at this thread, I was like "Oh great. Another terrible suggestion..." But when I read it, I was like "You know, this could work." BTW, I think that a good spot for the Ghast would be it's open mouth. It would have a 96% chance ofpreventing it from shooting fireballs at you, and a 4% chance of killing it instantly. You, sir, deserve a and 64
i think with ghast it should be the tendrils. i feel like that makes them float. when destroyed the ghast will fall in the lava of the nether and die
Their weak spot IS the tendrils. If you use a fly mod to fly up and smack them with a sword, the only part you can hurt them in is the middle of the tendrils.
yeah, i've read that one already.
but that kind of giant complex changes is exactly what i'm trying to avoid, and i'm pretty sure Notch isn't very enthusiastic about suggestions like that either.
i like parts of it, but some of it is just too far out there.
hmmmmmmm, i like it!
maybe bows should have less of an arc, shoot more strait forward.
that way you can more easily hit their weak spots from a distance, so you can make sniping kills!
hmmmmmmm, good idea!
but i'd rather see a different weapon, that shoots more strait.
like a crossbow or something.

i added some more ideas for this concept in the main post.

*You hit zombie in his weak spot*
Message : The attack was really effective !
But , yeah it will be a good idea
My suggestion is directly on the balls.
Hhahah XD , well , because creeper is " Penis shaped " i think the legs are the balls... so hitting him in the legs will cause instant explosion.
Hitting a "walking green penis" in the balls and have it explode on you is not family friendly, and this game is supposed to be.

don't you mean the cubes?
Ghasts shouldn't have a weak spot if this were Implemented, cause, you know, they're ghasts.
The pen is mightier than the sword, or in this case, the text is mightier than the troll.
yeah, the idea has to be improved some more, but i think we can make it a good concept, right?
