So as many of you know F3 brings up a lot of information about minecraft such as FPS, coordinates, etc. It also begins "debug mode" or something. I believe that a few changes should be made to this function.
THE PROBLEM
So I just found and downloaded the amazing dokucraft texture pack. I patched my game and set it as my texture pack. Before I continue it should be noted that I get solid FPS(50-90) when running a 16x16 texture pack. Because of this I didn't have any worries that it would slow down my game to much. I was wrong. Due to my integrated graphics card or something I get less than 5 frames per second. It's like watching a slide show. For no particular reason I pressed F3 and my framerate instantly jumped to 60 FPS. It was such an improvement that now I play while I have F3 on constantly. However the graph, useless info, etc cluttering up the screen got very annoying VERY quickly.
THE SOLUTION
Now I know notch shouldn't be forced to fix a component of the game that he never intended to exist in the first place but I have a simpler solution. I think that their should be a menu option (similar to video settings) to edit what information is displayed when pressing F3. It's simple and would require notch or whoever does the updates to do minimal coding. Also it would help people whose screens are blocked by the giant red graph to actually see their FPS, coordinates, and SMP text.
I know their is a mod which (kind of) does what I have suggested here but I don't want to be forced to rely on a mod which can be slow to update after the game updates or abandoned by it's creator. I would feel much better if it was implemented into the game directly.
There is a mod for it but I think this is a good idea.

generally i get so much lag that i cant even see my coordinates (ranging from 1-30fps even in tiny, although i dont mind lol) so it WOULD be convenient to have the option to show lag indicator or not, as alot of times i attempt to see my coordinates but i cant because its covered up.
Instead of changing things you could just use a different texture pack...
This has nothing to do with my texture pack. I am not demanding that this be implemented. I believe this would not only improve the game for me but also for others for various reasons.

It would be awesome if whatever it was that increased your FPS could be used separately.
Could work! It could help Notch too!

How to not die in a cave
This is what I want but some people may want to get rid of certain parts of F3 display

But what if your computer is uber-slow? That would be slightly harder to change than a texture pack...
