Hi all. I searched the massive sticky about this and didn't find anything.
Anyways My idea is pretty simple. Make it so you can edit/paint your character/avatar in-game. It could be located somewhere in the options menu. As it is now. You have to do a bit of work to change how you character looks. You have to download the tiny image of the default guy, then you have to open it in MSPaint/Photoshop/GIMP, make the tiny image of said guy bigger just so you can see the correct parts you want to paint, then you have to search for the right folder to put it in after you save.
It would be very beneficial if you could edit your avatar while in game and save it so the game automatically places it in the proper folder. It would also be a nice idea to have an in-game avatar download station where users can download and upload user created avatar skins on the fly without having to search on the internet. (Which requires you to close the game and open up a web browser)
You know, you could just edit it outside the game instead of making people (Mojang or modders) do more work for your laziness...
That's the problem. Not everyone is smart enough to figure this out. Such as my friend. Did you not ready what i posted about having to download and open up other programs just to do a simple task? It should be included when the game officially comes out by the end of the year. Little kids who play Minecraft aren't going to know how to do all this editing and know what programs to use.
I know how to edit my guy using paint and other programs. The point is not everyone does. Apparently you missed the point of this.

MC skin edit has a gui interface. It is unbelievably simple. USE IT AND SHUT UP.
It has a background of the normal skin that you can color over. It includes an outline and shows which part is which.

It's called learning. I realize it's trendy or some **** to remain stupid about everything these days but that isn't Mojang's reponsibility. You want to edit skins? Learn how. End of. Pass it on to your lazy friend.
Little kids probably won't even think about editing.

I do use it Herp McDerpington. It should be implemented in the actual game it's self so people don't have to hunt/download it. I can see some of you are amateurs and can't see outside the box. It's not very professional to leave a feature like this out when every other game featuring avatars has it. That's what set's them apart. They care about the customers to have a such a simple feature in the game. Why? Because it's more CONVENIENT then having to close the game, open up a 3rd party program and edit your ****.

I happen to be an eighth grader that has several awards in academics, which includes English. I go to one of the best Catholic schools in N.Y.C. Of course I know what it means. While I am ranting, I see several errors in your grammar. Have you even taken English, or are you just a product of the American public school system?
OT: I would rather have Notch improve the game and make it more interesting than bust his ass because people are lazy idiots.

He is talking more about kids who do not know how rather than lazy people I think.
Although like I said it is very rare for someone to play the program minecraft and know what a skin is and need one so badly but they for whatever reason can not use paint and do not want to look up a tutorial so have to have a whole new time consuming feature added to the game for them.
Yeah, the rarity pretty much ruins any justification of "convenience"...
His excuse was people wouldn't be smart enough to do it with the current system then he mentioned a friend. To me, that says his friend (and people in general, probably) is too lazy to learn. Then he mentioned downloading and all, which tells me he's too lazy to download a few things (which is likely ironic). Sounds like he wants some simplified handout to accommodate laziness. The mention of kids seemed more of an afterthought.
And kids can learn too anyway, if by some slim chance the concept even crosses their minds. It won't kill them. Sure, it might take a bit more time or effort, but that's better than the incessant spoonfeeding and coddling kids get today. They can handle the current system or go without. It'll be a good lesson for life.
(And yeah, I'm a cynical asshole. Sue me. :iapprove:)

Off topic: Are you saying I am coddled and spoonfed? I do well at school because I like to learn. I have been admitted to Bronx School of Science, one of the best high schools in the country. There is no way you can call me coddled or spoonfed.

How old are you? I speak of kids, not high school students...Though they're on the way there, with all this anti-bullying drivel I catch on TV.

Sorry, but I hate it when people make blanket statements like that.

I hate blanket statements but they're more convenient and breath-conserving (or finger strength conserving) than accounting for every individual. And that's a better convenience argument than this thread. :tongue.gif:

Yes, you are correct. That is the same reason I write AS.

That's what this is about. It's about CONVENIENCE. Do you know what that word means?

Um...We're amateurs, yet you're the one crying that you have to GOD ****ING FORBID download something?
Right...
Hint: Having to wait months for Mojang to add this = inconvenient
Suck it up and take a few extra mouse clicks instead of putting more work on others. = convenient
The time you're wasting here could be spent teaching your lazy friends how to edit skins.

No, MC Skin Edit is very simplistic, unlike paint.
