If you've ever wired anything with a bit of complexity using Redstone, you know it's nice to hide your wiring. That means, usually, underground wiring. To bring it back up though, you have to do something like this:

I propose that redstone be able to move vertically as in real wiring. Anybody else agree?

Rather than have to craft all the different combinations, just allow cycling through directions by right-clicking.
The Complete Block Improvements Guide mentions something similar.

This would work rather nicely, as well as the right clicking thing. From a gameplay perspective, this seems like the easiest way to do it though.

Add the necessary directional variants. Instant multiple redstone fixes (vertical, corner placement, etc.) and a use for all that surplus dust.
