And if you read, I support RPG elements...Just not in the current vanilla game.
I posted them in the original thread; I figure you can find them yourself, right? They're the same basic ones that get Monster Hunter labeled an RPG for no discernible reason.
Find me one JRPG suggestion. JUST ONE. ANY SINGLE ONE OF THEM will do.
You can't compare a JRPG like Chrono Trigger to a western RPG, of which Minecraft already has the backbone for.
Anyway, what makes Kira and PyroNox a better judge of what works in a sandbox game than myself? Post count? Minecraft ALREADY has RPG elements in it. A few more will NOT ruin the game.
I'm not saying sandbox survival should have a storyline or a final boss, not that that would actually ruin the game any more than having normal enemies.
I'm not saying ALL RPG elements would fit Minecraft, but that's because Minecraft isn't an RPG; But some of them would definitely fit Minecraft, because it's already got other, complementary RPG elements.
Actually, post count has a lot to do with it. Having a higher post count generally means that the person's opinion is more broadcast; ergo people have a higher respect for their opinion. Either that, or they happened to have survived getting perma-banned.
As far as the quality of their judgment? No one has a say on that; it just so happens that the opinion stated was done so intellectually, on-point, and in a way that attracted GM attention and agreement.
Next on the list:
ANY GAME that has come after the vaulted days of RPGs has RPG elements. Many shooters have them, platformers are starting to see them in increasing and striking regularity, etc. To say that MC needs more RPG elements because of its tenuous link to RPGs is faulty and absurd.
When we look at the very basic definitions; even changing weapons in CONTRA could be contrived as an RPG element. What we are talking about here is why many less-than-pretty systems get blammed and how to avoid getting your post trolled/flamed.
The entire ISSUE about the original "WHY IT WON'T" is not about the exclusion of all RPG elements, it's about why many commonly suggested elements like currency, society, level/exp systems cannot work. The entire RPG realm is broad and the entire genre cannot be neatly tidied into that one thread. If you find an RPG element that's not on that thread, chances are it COULD work in MC.

So, none then? Got it.

If this thread were a girlfriend, it'd do everything but anal.
That's what sane people should say, yeah. But that's not what the gaming community as a whole thinks about the list.
Anyway, I find the general flow of the conversation to be:
Stupid Pro-RPG nutjob: "LOLOLOLOL levels and equipment tiers and summons and FINAL BOSS!!!"
Kira: "That obviously won't work in sandbox because it creates limitations."
Intelligent Pro-RPG supporter: "But if you do it THIS way, it fits within the general curve of the tech level, dosen't unbalance anything, and rewards players for dedication to the game, all of which generally speaking are GOOD things for a game people are already going to play for a trillion hours of their lives anyway."
Kira Supporter: "Nope, those won't work either because Kira has some generalized opinion"
Intelligent Pro-RPG supporter: "But... Kira didn't cover anything LIKE this."
Kira Supporter: "Shut up, noob."
I like how you're completely unbiased when you differentiate pro-RPG and pro-KIRA(Is there some kind of fetish I'm unaware of?) supporters.
Where the RPG supporters are intelligent, and anyone with a differing opinion cannot have their own opinion, but instead sacrifices animals to their goddess, Kira.
That is insulting and my opinion of you has diminished because of this.

Did you even read the post? Yes, there are morons who make suggestions that would destroy the sandbox mode. The problem is, NOT all RPG suggestions that are "technically" covered by Kira's opinions WOULD destroy sandbox, despite Kira's supporters acting as if they would.
Hey bud, there's moron's on either side. I've seen poor republicans and rich democrats. I've seen poor democrats and rich republicans too. Don't go thinking that we're all complete morons.
Yes, we all have people whom cannot handle change, no matter how positive or transparent they may be. You'll have intelligent Pro-kira posters and intelligent Pro-RPG supporters (I hope you'll soon acknowledge there is another side).
And for the pro-RPG supporters, if you encounter a dumb-ass Kira supporter that doesn't understand that some gameplay aspects may acceptable; an intelligent RPG supporter should have no trouble casting the moron aside and continue on after destroying his objections.
However, if you encounter an intelligent Kira supporter, chances are they make a valid point, or... perhaps... simply have an opinion. When you run into an issue such as that, you should judge the person, not the topic in reference.
Stupid Pro-RPG nutjob: "LOLOLOLOL levels and equipment tiers and summons and FINAL BOSS!!!"
As you can see, I'm aware that there are stupid wankers on both sides. Kira's not wrong; A lot of those aspects wouldn't work in Minecraft. But Kira's are limited opinions based on limited ideas of what constitutes various posted versions of the concepts, not a comprehensive guide on every possible implementation of everything on the list.
Exactly. I have also stated that it would be impossible to list all permutations due to the necessity of brevity.
I have also stated that if a thread passes through the gauntlet of idiot-copy-pasta, then it's a good suggestion. If it cannot even pass the scrutiny of a thread posted over a month ago, I don't see how it would stand a chance under more rigorous scrutiny.
