Easy suggestion.
9 redstone = 1 redstone block.
Why? Because people have too much redstone.
Anything else? Ya. It is effected by gravity.
Why? Because it is a cube of dust.

This was so short and simple it made me laugh! It's a great idea too, I think it is simple enough for Notch to implement quickly, lets get this noticed so it can be in the next update.
I could live with this. And it is, as stated earlier, easy enough for to add it in. All we need is a way to get this noticed. Maybe someone could make a mod for it in the meantime. I think the idea of gravity having an effect would be good for a machine or trap that uses gravity in a way that couldn't be used before. All in all, great idea. 10/10 You sir may have a .
Ok, but why should it fall? And personally, i think it should be like this:
=redstone

It would balance it out because when you mine a redstone block it comes out as four redstone dust.
Good idea, though.
Requiring only 4 reduces the main function which is mass storage.
Why should it be effected by gravity? is composed of very small rocks. is composed of slightly larger rocks. Redstone is called dust for a reason.

I think this is a interesting idea, I think there would be two options of how the block would behave though...
1. The block could act like a lighted up block making better red stone signs ect.
2. Or like as mentioned in other comments being able to hold a current and being affected by gravity to be able to make more complex red stone circuits
Maybe when it receives power it gets 14 light level or something.
Great for neon lights.
Heh heh. Redstone lights. Redlight district.

If it could be used for vertical transmission, it make allot of redstone projects easier and more compact.
Maybe when it receives power it gets 14 light level or something.

So if the block below it gets destroyed it, in turn, also gets destroyed?

perhaps.
It's just a simple suggestion though.
Sorta like diamond and gold blocks. No use except for storage and aesthetics.
