i was thinking that the people of minecrft should not be subjected to cyber-atheism without choice, and could feel free to (or not) practice religion i.e. building temples and altars to notch. you could also have a karma mode so if you do good things before you die, you have the choice of going to aether, and if you do bad things, the nether. you could make an altar like this:

you could make blood offerings this way.
keep adding on to an already infinite world!
any feedback would be good.
What? Blood offerings to Notch? No. Nothing's stopping you from building a temple, or shrines to Notch, as is. The karma concept is fascinating, but nothing in this topic is worth anything in it's current state.

Exactly. If you want to build a giant golden statue of notch, you can already do it.
I am just a guy looking for good suggestions that are original, creative, and match the theme of Mine-craft. I have some mob ideas that I need help forming which is a community project.
A karma system with worship puts a good-luck/bad-luck type of gameplay in here. In a game slated around survival, worrying about luck is overbearing.
What affects karma? killing a pig? A sheep? A skeleton?
Pigs are necessary for survival. Is the player going to suffer simply because he wants to live? What happens after he dies? Does his karma stay the same? Or does it reset?
Implement your own karma/religion modes. It saves the developers time, and it works quite well. You just make a note of where your 'karma' is atm, and when it reaches a certain number (Ex: -100) you go to the nether or the aether depending on what it is. (Or course, the aether needs to be added first though, or you could get the mod thats coming out eventually)
For the 'religion mode', you could just make a temple of whatever diety you worship, and follow the rules of that religion. I believe Notch wanted minecraft to be religion-neutral, and I personally think we should keep the forums that way as well.
Honestly? I think this would work better as a mod. I mean, the concept itself isn't flawed. Could even work in adventure mode or with NPC type character. I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss it.
As for going to the Aether or Nether, they seem like different dimensions then after lives.
Still, perhaps the religion thing could help develop the world some more. Give the world some more depth. I kind of like the premise.

Would you care to name the trolls? I see no trolls here, just people who either like or dislike the idea, and most of them have given reasons for their opinion.
Anyways, Notch doesn't want to add any sort of religion or what not to his game (since it will often get miss-interpreted and a whole bunch of other stuff will happen) even if it is fictional, it will still bear resemblance to another religion, and when that happens, a whole bunch of stuff goes down the drain
Off Topic : I searched up minecraft one day, and it seems a bunch of Catholics really dislike minecraft for they believe it "replaces" god.....

He thinks we're all trolls because his "creeper jockey" thread got destroyed.

Just play Fallout or Fable.
It's a ****ing GAME, kid. Go play Bible Adventures if "cyber-atheism" is a problem.
And the Nether is not a Christian Hell, or any afterlife for that matter.

Lots of details needs to be ironed out.

Did somebody actually suggest that?
Anyway, no. If you want religion, just pretend. Also the Nether is more of a teleportation system than the afterlife. People seem to forget that.
*Everyone else meaning me and me only.
It isn't "more of a transportation system than the afterlife". It just flat-out isn't an afterlife.
And yes, somebody did. "Remove pigs because some outdated book says pork iz not gewd!"

No.
What is wrong with agreeing with me? Do you dislike me?
