Bees that spawn in or around a cave should have a witches interaction honey; light a fire under the nest as normal, bottle to collect and throw at witch to enable trading and turn hostile witches into mellow tripping witches whicb can trade. trade lasts till next day unless witch is named and held captive for trading but to enable trade more hallucinogenic honey bottles are needed.
Potion trades could be good or items for ready potions could be also be good would open the potion element earlier before the need for nether and blazes rods

I feel a little double standards is in replies to this esp when it comes to compact animal farming or mob farming least the witches would be happy and alive I feel its a positive step for witches rather than smashing them on sight with swords #witcheslivesmatter ππ

Sort of. I am aware that villagers and witches aren't humans. (Uhm.. i think they aren't)
But your suggestion doesn't sound like befriending witches. Give them a "drug" and they become friendly?
We are talking about Halucinogenic honey, don't we?

Its No more of an issue than the arrows of slowness, the splash potions of poison or the holding villagers captive in villages would it be easier to say its poison honey that when splashed on a witch makes them happy to trade. Seems to be a political correctness issue when other parts of the game are similar but the damage is done toward the player.
Minecraft remember is hostile mobs wanting to fight against construction and destruction of nature it paints the players and villagers in a bad light when you think of it from a hostile mobs point of view. π€π I just want a way to turn a hostile witch into a tradable witch to open up some of the game at a higher cost obv earlier say it takes one item for each stage of the brew. In the brew stand just now you need fuel water bottles and items to brew that's like up to 5 items just now so say for one potion you need 5 spider eyes plus one bottle of poison honey and the witch wants a poison potato thrown in for herself as part of the deal maybe she could give quests like set trades that after completion are kept as a trade option

5 spider eyes, one poison honey, 1 poison potato gives the trade for one πΊ
5 spider eyes for trade two πΊ
7 pieces of string 4 pieces of sugar one poison honey and a goats horn to sweeten the deal for the witch for the second trade item to be listed to unlock the second tradable item πΊπΊ
But after completion of the second item.all you need is 3 pieces of string and 2 pieces of sugar these are all for a single potion only,but after the brew stand is open and has fuels etc the rates plummet on the brew stand for same potion thqink of the witch as a hostile traveling trading villager after shes had a bottle of poison honey

And you might argue that certain illagers (mybe vindicators?) resemble men more closely than women, but they are still in the game.
My problem with this is that you are forcing the will of a sentient mob, evil or not, that's not okay. Attacking is one thing, manipulating is another, brainwashing a third. Unzombifying a villager is decidedly not the same thing, not even zombifying one on purpose since there is no will involved.

The way I see it is passifing the angry witch to be happy to encourage trades its like farming mobs but less on the killing more on the collecting side of minecraft. Witches are both male and female ask any Wicca, the reference that witches are female is Hollywood in your psychi look to the salem witch trials they did it properly not all witches were female but anyone who didn't mingle or did natural healings or didn't stick to the strict social guidelines was deemed a witch drowned or burned. But back to the game, Mojang is missing a trick with witch trades keep them alive and trade with them its technically witchy fishing as evey honey drip trip could spawn a new trade option. Could even give more jobs to the players like the villagers do giving the villagers tiers the witch could be gained on tiers with timed missions before she/he becomes an angry mob again and you have to reset the trade mission options when you reapply the honey trip.

Potion of slowness is a minecraft drug bud
Hallucinogenic honey is an actual thing bud its in Nepal mildly hallucinogenic from what I've seen I'd make the minecraft storyline similar gives the witches a giggle feel good vibe which encourages trading and let's them sit down in your base as a chilling witch not saying shackle the witch up in a box but to keep them from attacking you when the honey wears off you could give them a room and they become a roommate in your base that you tend to like villagers just remember to sweeten them up before you wanna trade with them. ππ

They naturally go to Windows and doors so you could use a dispenser to give honey splash and a sticky piston to drop the height of the window to trade. Then its timed missions you have till next day to complete a task otherwise the honey wears off and resets the trade requests when you resplash the witch its no more edgy than current minecraft farming techniques or fishing IMO

I agree with your idea but not the sentiment from how your wording is.

When we give food to animals they give the love hearts and they seem pretty mind controlled while you hold the food.
Think of it as a trick to have the witch change sides with pillagers they see players as pillagers its only temporary and when the effect wears off you get same angry witch looking to kill you. It's similar to capturing villagers just its converting hostile mobs to peaceful mobs.
Maybe it's my wording that's off not meaning to darken minecraft anymore that it already is with villager torture and reducing costs by zombifing them and curing them repeatedly. I just feel killing the witches is a bit of a waste its like killing foxes you don't get much back apart from what they hold or a little bonus drop.

What separates us from the other mammals not much. Sentient beings are sentient beings no matter there abilities real life or in minecraft only difference with minecraft representational sentient beings, are fictional not actual beings. Clouding judgement with political correctness and back story is optional, calling the honey hallucinogenic or happy honey, cave honey or mystic honey or witches honey makes not real jot of difference my idea was originally make the character of the witch tradeable for a short period of time using a honey item as the honey use options are pretty limited at the moment.
So maybe my word choice in the idea wasn't up to much but the base bones are good for bringing witches into the trade/villager mix think of the witch as an angry traveling villager. The potential is there.
