While taking a look at the Wall variants I thought since most were mainly made of Stone why not make some out of wood planks with the different wood types yeah we may have fences but they are mainly used as such and for animal farms
I believe this is one of the suggestions mojang officials have already rejected, since they've received it so much.
They've rejected vertical slabs. AFAIK they haven't said anything about introducing Plank variants of the existing Wall blocks, which would be considerably different from vertical slabs.
Though they are different, walls themselves were sort of added as the stone offering alternative for fences, so fences already sort of serve as the wooden offering, even if they are not walls, per se.
Mojang have artificially restricted player creativity by refusing to add wooden walls. Theoretically it should be relatively easy for them to do, add a new item ID with the same properties as normal wood (meaning it can be used as fuel and be flammable) but have the size and dimensions of stone walls, as well as the textures of planks. It's not like a complete redesign of a game.
Technically you can craft wooden walls using trapdoors, but it only looks good using spruce or dark oak.
The rest is an absolute eyesore unless intended as a garden fence or something of that nature.

Thing is I'm not even sure that they've refused to add in wooden walls, in the sense of a wall block like we have now with wooden textures. They've refused vertical slabs, but this isn't the same thing by any means. Then again, I could have missed something somewhere saying they won't.

I don't see the point with already having fences. The only block that has both fences and walls is Nether brick, and it makes sense for it to have walls like other types of stone, and it has fences for window bars. Procedurally generated structures like the Nether fortress and stronghold need updated, and they're probably trying to figure out how to do so since they both spawn in underground settings, and a simple pyramid-like structure might not work too well when it's sticking out of the wall into a huge cavern.

Hi, I do believe there already is one or more mods having wooden (planks) walls, but I can not remember the names though.
