This villager will guard the village and will pick up armor and weapons you give them Or maybe they level up, the more they kill the better armor and weapon they will get. Perhaps the armor will look different depending on where they live. Perhaps an armorstand will be the building that can make them guards.
I whould love to build a barrack for these villagers
I don't know how many times this has been shut down, but no, it's not going to happen honestly. At least zombie villagers now have proper armour renderings for them (at least in Bedrock) so maybe we can armour villagers via dispenser and actually see the armour.
Mojang has stated time and time again that iron golems exist to protect villagers because villagers choose to be passive. It comes up so many times that it's on the list of ideas to be immediately rejected.
Villagers are pacifists. They don't want to fight. This is why golems exist. (Let's improve golems!) Villagers do not want to be guards, knights, soldiers, fighters, defenders, warriors, or protectors.

If you'd like to talk with me about other games, here are a few I play.
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands series (Borderlands 2 is my favorite game, ever. TPS combat is a lot of fun and makes up for the lower-quality story, in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls series
Warframe (IGN is something like That_One_Flesh_Atronach)
Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Rocket League
Fallout series
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
Just Cause series
Come to think of it, I mainly play fighting-based games.
Mojang has stated time and time again that iron golems exist to protect villagers because villagers choose to be passive. It comes up so many times that it's on the list of ideas to be immediately rejected.
But then Minecraft won't improve if this is the mindset they have.
some players want to design a war cult to fight off the pillagers and this isn't an option for them if they are in single player.
these are changes which could genuinely make the game way more fun for people.
Iron golems suck btw, the big problem with them is they are slow and they don't really do a good job at protecting the villagers, furthermore villagers don't have autonomous 1 birth replacing 1 death breeding, which means players need to intervene to stop them from getting attacked and repopulate them or leave the area so it isn't loaded then come back another time when they are better prepared to defend the village.
But unfortunately Mojang is more likely to listen to suggestions which would make raids more annoying and more similar to griefing players, than listen to the fans who are wanting villagers to not be incompetent slackers and contribute to defending their own territory.

Mojang doesn't want a full-war scenario which is why I find their choices with raids to be self-contradictory, especially ravager abilities.
Villagers are also easy loot so there has to be some challenge to dealing with them, as is, it is very easy now with beds in each house, no patrols near villages, etc.

I didn't like the raids either, mostly because of how much they can inconvenience players who are forced to deal with them, when friends on the server kill a pillager who wondered too close to a village, since there is no time left for the milk to take away the Bad Omen, you are then forced to deal with it even if you weren't the individual who triggered the raid, which is just wrong and broken.
The ravagers ability to destroy crops also adds another nuisance to player bases.
the only workaround I can think of is building a raid farm elsewhere so my base and my farms are unaffected.
Building a raid farm in another location wouldn't be helpful if the raids received a buff to the point where they could auto grief players regardless of lighting condition or where they were on the world, though. There is a chance that the plans I have for mine and my friends realm could end up being ruined if pillagers and ravagers were made to destroy any defence wall and loot player items.
The truth is we get these updates forced down our throats with no ability to turn them off, bedrock edition doesn't allow us to load an older version, and I don't want to switch to peaceful mode either because that's cheating in my book. Mojang doesn't offer compromises for different survival players, some players hated the Phantom, but they are forced to deal with it because "reasons", I don't personally hate the Phantoms, but it does inconvenience me in a way I'm not used to and I can't just leave my character out every night even in a well lit and fenced off village, while waiting for crops to grow while AFK. They're easy to avoid, but they do require your attention and use of beds.
Well for AFKing you could just stay under a tree unless you are also fishing and want a higher fish rate. Then, you could just stay under a 1x1 skylight with ceiling and wall guarding you otherwise (since phantoms are big and clumsy).
As for raids, yeah, I hope they don't buff them too much, but that's not justifying AIs fighting AIs. Raids are hard enough as is, effectively bosses.
I'm against this concept.
Villagers are not meant to fight, and their defenders are meant to be iron golems.

Well if people say that over and over that they want that why not add it? It whould look great. The iron golems can simply be a elite group.
Uuuuuuugh... This logic is so so so bad. I know this is an old post I'm quoting, but this is just a 'no' wrapped inside another 'no'.
Going "if people want it, just add it!" is one of the most painfully terrible lines of thinking ever. This is just naive, anti-proper game design pseudo-logic that fails on 83 different levels. So if enough people suggest "nuke creepers" that ruin the game, then... just add it? No.
No, it wouldn't "look great". Villager guards would look super stupid and Iron Golems aren't meant to be some "elite group", they are just straight up the guards themselves. This is why people need to search before they make threads, because they end up arguing points that were punched down 6+ years ago.
i dont think it would be a great add to the main game as others have pointed out, but I see nothing wrong with the way it would look. Thats getting down to pure opinion Sinpian2. Not really a point in arguing that

no regrets.
The OP tried to use "it would look great" as some sort of saving grace and it fell flat.
Nope, it didint fell flat. But jelous people tend to attack other peoples ideas. Just because you don´t thiknk it looks great doesint mean anything, what i am saying has been talked about alot, many people want this. Just scroll up.

Hmmmmmmmmm. Yes, there's a key word in there. The word is "mod". Ever know why mods are mods and not in vanilla game? Yes, it does speak for itself. But it speaks against your point, not for it. You were shown Mojang doesn't want fighting villagers and that it won't happen. Good day sir. ;]
Nope, it does speaks for itself people want it in game otherwise they whouldint make a mod, quite simple....
It doesn't matter. If fighting villagers were a good idea we would have gotten them years ago and not an entirely new Iron Golem mob. Villagers will be pacifists forever no matter what. Go play the mod then, because this will never be added in the main game. End of story.
Perhaps not armed villagers- but it would be neat to see more variation on iron golems- or perhaps a artificer-villager type specifically tasked with managing said golems. (Smaller, speedier golems, golems with some sort of projectile weapon, etc.)
