if this happened it would happen in the far future and would probs only add 1.
This isn’t so much a suggestion but more of a prediction for a future update.
(I made an example near the end of how others could work but just know that it is no where near polished and is just an example as Ik it’s a bit over the top.)
Intro:
as we all know netherite is the new armour to have even though it’s not insanely advanced over diamond it’s fire proofing puts it up enough to be worth it whilst still not being op, which makes sense as it’s only born using a material found and a piece of diamond armour/tool.
this feature could be implemented numerous times across the game using a material found, diamond and a smithing table.
Main idea:
This system has left the upgradable diamond armour feature majorly expandable for a new ore/material to be found to upgrade diamond In a new way, Just like netherite I expect the protection points will stay the same (that may not be a fact) but will give different perks as netherite armour having the perk of knock back resistance and also fire proofing the armour.
One of my examples:
Name: pasident stone (all names are in the works)
This new material can be found at the bottom of deep ocean biomes in piles of stone bulging from the sea bed it’s rarity would be significantly lower than ancient debre (or you would be able to sea the stuff everywhere)
Just like ancient debre it can be smelted except this time into a thick liquified substance called “sea elixir” ,with 4 of this substance they can be crafted with four prismarine shards into an ingot called the “ocean ingot” using this with diamond gear the smithing table will make pacidant armour this armour will have heightened underwater effectiveness the equivalent for knockback resistance in this case would be a speed effect while swimming also the water breathing effect (the more parts of this new armour you have on the longer the breathing affect it would last) the equivalent to netherites fire proofing would be it would start floating a lot faster if dropped in water whilst it also would start having a neon blue glow if dropped to it making it very easy to spot especially in water
The tools would have the same buoyancy and the same glow and they would majorly upgrade the mining underwater speed.
with efficiency 5 it would become very near insta mine under water.
The trident would be a special item in this case as you can put the two together for an upgraded durability (like the others) and higher damage when thrown under water underwater also a shimmer different to the enchanted shimmer on it while in water 😂.
(this is part of a comment I replied to someone with)
the smithing table is away to combine diamond and a material so what other material could be combined with diamond next? (Especially with the mountain update update in the future)
Sounds like a decent idea, although the diamond-to-netherite conversions are player-friendly, so it can wait - you can normally use diamond gear and immediately upgrade it with netherite even if enchanted and renamed.

Dwarf gamer found:
Buildings - square, not round
Materials - from rubble mound
Dark caves - lit 'n' cleaned out
Settlements - deep underground
Farmability - to grinder bound
Shields - made creepers but sound
Axes and crossbows - taking mobs out
do you mean that it’s to easy to upgrade from diamond to netherite? If you are I kinda have to agree, with some beds it becomes like finding iron just in small quantities
What I got from tow4rz's post was that diamond isn't completely outdated just because a new tier was added. You can upgrade it into Netherite whenever you want. By comparison, you suggested another diamond upgrade that spawns much more commonly than Ancient Debris and spawns in massive veins yet still takes the same number of smelting operations to create an ingot. So with your suggestion, given how large and common oceans are, players would instead find it more beneficial to rush directly to your new tier.

If you'd like to talk with me about other games, here are a few I play.
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands series (Borderlands 2 is my favorite game, ever. TPS combat is a lot of fun and makes up for the lower-quality story, in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls series
Warframe (IGN is something like That_One_Flesh_Atronach)
Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Rocket League
Fallout series
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
Just Cause series
Come to think of it, I mainly play fighting-based games.
I mean that we don't have a severe problem to fix really fast.
New content like hard-to-get composite from depths of oceans - sounds alright, although mountain update is coming, and this idea might be postponed.

Sorry I replied to your last reply before seeing this one.
Most defiantly your right they won’t add anything like this until pretty far into future other wise the armours will become cluttered and probably will feel more like a mod than vanilla.
Also my example wasn’t really a suggestion to Mojang as it’s flawed and isn’t really that useful it was just an example of how the system of diamond to netherite can be copied and modified into another part of the game.
i should have been more clear when I said “quite abit higher than” I meant rarer not more common.
(also when I said quite abit For me personally I use as does most locals of where I live it means quite a lot more) an example of this is “that’s quite a lot of sweets” meaning omfg your about to become diabetic 😂.
i dont mean to sound snobbish when I say “ I use it as does Most locals” like seriously 😂
(btw Ik that term is used a lot all over the world for that meaning)
