Everyone knows about the new soul sand valley. In this valley, fire is blue. Why isn't lava blue? I think this would be a very cool change and it would just make the game look a lot better in my opinion. People might complain it will look like water, but how? If they make the lava a nice cool blue color and keep the lava texture it won't look like water. They could even add little changes to it. Maybe in this lava you move so slow that you can't even move. That might be too crazy but whatever. Still, I think this would be an amazing idea.

Why would anyone remotely want that? I know it's loosely related to Soul Sand, but being in lava is bad enough, we don't need a version that stops you dead in your tracks (fire resist potion or not). As for the idea, I don't see an issue with it, but (and this part is just me) but it might look ridiculous being mixed with normal lava.
So, I know this will certainly meet mixed feelings, but something that crossed my mind was what if this "soul lava" gave a status effect? Maybe slowness, and a very slow health regen, or fire resistance? It could give exploration and preparation a twist.

70% support.
There could be other things to balance that out, such as not making you burn if you succeed in escaping it or reducing the DPS you take whilst in it

There is also the issue about getting it mixed up with water, because it would be a blue liquid just existing in a hole somewhere, and only when the player falls into it would they realize what just happened, with lava you can see light from the surface pool in the distance, but this is difficult to see during the day time and you have to see the lava itself to notice it.
It's bad enough that lava exists, on top of ravines which either way you would be screwed if you fell in them without an enchantment that allows you to defy death from either one fate.
it is also possible, but unlikely, to end up trapped in lava if gravel or sand collapses, since there is no way to verify they're stable underneath or above unless you approach them.
and look, the nether already is common for lava lakes and hot spots inside of netherrack mines.
I'd sooner ask for a new type of mob than another difficult to spot environmental hazard that is going to cause lost items and rage quits.

I support the idea of a lava variant found in the soul sand valleys, but I'm not as excited about having it give you status effects. Instead, what if there was a collision property with regular lava that would turn it into basalt or some other block? It would make lava-bridging a lot easier and would help to get the strider's attention since they spawn so far from the shore. This would not be a complete alternative to water, as it wouldn't put out the fire if you were burning, but it would fit the theme of making the nether easier to survive in, as shown with most of the additions in 1.16, such as the hoglin serving as a food source and the vine variants helping you get to different sections of the nether.

Remember those versions that minecraft pranked us with? Specifically:
Minecraft 2.0
Minecraft 1.VR-Pre1
Snapshot 15w14a
Minecraft 3D
Those are still downloadable! Watch this video for 2.0:
To download the other ones you need to make a folder in the versions folder for minecraft and put the client and JSON file for the versions in there. They all need to be named the same aside from file extensions. Once you do that, you will be able to choose that version when making a new profile with the minecraft launcher.

I'd support it as a nether feature, but not an over world one because we already have enough hazards in it which can be dangerous to players who are not wearing armour.
Saying that however, although I don't want blue lava with the new status affect suggested by the OP to occur in the over world. although this is off topic, I do support the idea of volcano biomes and sulfuric acid as one final addition to environmental hazards, with perhaps crude oil and tar pits in a future update, but even then I'm not sure that would work.
Enough with that soul stuff! Lava is molten, not burning!
Besides, the soul lava might be used to set traps for people, especially considering it has practically no additional purpose.
Also, lava next to soul lava would look weirdly!

Personally, I think this is a good idea. I just think it should be cosmetic, in my opinion. Like, no mechanical changes from normal lava.
Other than that, support!

this is a brilliant idea, it should definitely be implemented

Blue lava would look like water. It would be confusing plus i think blue fire is cool. But blue lava is just Meh.
I definitely feel blue lava and water would be easily visually distinguishable
Make blue lava evaporate at the overworld or it will be a some kind if stone?
You have my support, as it would add more potential atmosphere to builds. I've always wanted a proper variant of lava for that purpose.
Constantly evolving, reaching further heights.
On our Texture pack, our lava IS Blue. Magma Block is blue as well. This is cause....
Water = Smurf Tears
Lava = Smurf Ooze
