Only if they add something to the game then add more to convince, if they end up like Polar Bears then no as we don't need life to be the same as reality or animal favouritism. Minecraft may have it's moments of adding more zombies but people can get creative with it if players live in deserts but otherwise they need to have uses or negative effects. Polar Bears give you fish and live in snow/ice biomes but I've never cared to use them or care when I see them as they do nothing new for the gameplay like Bees do for honey or genetics/resource production in mods.
If they give penguin armour, work similar to dolphins but to find Igloos (so you keep them and don't harm them for penguin armour), or speed on ice (similar to dolphin's grace or getting penguin's flippers) or something then I'll be on board but otherwise this needs more reasons for it to exist.
Sadly, I have to disagree. This might just be me, but I think Minecraft is starting to become filled up with animals that don’t do much to affect gameplay and are only there for the sake of it. Having penguins “because they’re cute” isn’t a good reason to add penguins. What do they offer to the game? Why would I want to go out of my way to find a penguin? I don’t want the situation we have with a few other passive mobs, where the average player pretty much forgets they exist.
For now, no support.
Penguins are my favourite animal and I want them NOW they are needed as a cute animal and it’s my favourite so we need it

You heard 'em! Let's just slap in an animal with no details whatsoever because this one dude on a forum wants that. That's totally how game design works! I like hippos with rocket launchers on their faces, so let's add that because my brain wants that! no.
No support. A suggestion is made by stating why an idea is good. Not because "this is MY fav thing so it NEEDS to be added".

I disagree entirely, part of the point of adding more animals to the game would be to make the ecosystem more diverse and less boring, Minecraft for too long has suffered an oversimplified environment with not enough creatures to discover in the worlds and this is changing and I'm grateful that Mojang is doing this for us. Minecraft Java already provides older versions of the game for people who disagreed with said changes, but there's no good reason for Minecraft's ecosystem to be this bland.
FYI the animals that got added fairly recently in the game, such as parrots already do offer changes to gameplay, parrots warn you if there are monsters behind and make noises which correspond to the type of monster that is nearby.
stuff like this shouldn't be restricted to mods because what if people want to play legit survival but still want the extra animals in the worlds to make them seem more alive?
Penguins would just be another rare animal. And penguins wouldn't look so good in the game i imagine. They are just flightless birds. Only use is to kill for food and cows, pigs and many other mobs already drop food. penguins are useless. As u said. They are cute but in no other way useful.

Better than making the game more grindy though. Out of all the update suggestions this is nowhere near the worst I've seen. There are problems about a game that can constantly receive updates/changes to in game features that cannot be ignored however, especially when it involves suggestions from a community that has little to no knowledge about game development.
Some people wanted nerfs to ores to mining which is already dumb.
I'd much rather have more animals in the game than this, even if they served no practical purpose other than making the world ecosystem more diverse.
