So this is like putting blocks on Minecarts, except that it is on boats.
Chest Boat - A boat that has a chest on it. The chest has a weight value of 0, unless if you put more items in it. If you put too much items, the boat will sink.
TNT boat - A boat with TNT on it. If you crash it or crash on it, it will explode. (perfect for ocean base bombing) If you manage to sink it, then ti will become an underwater explosive. The deeper the TNT boat goes, the higher chance it would explode. It would have a 10% chance to explode (per water block) if it goes down at least 5 water blocks. It would 100% explode if it reaches 15 water blocks below. (It's like how pressure destroys stuff)
Furnace boat - When the furnace is powered up, the boat can move 13 blocks per second. The only way to stop it is to remove the power source or let it burn out. You cannot move the boat when it is powered. Only steer. The furnace boat is perfect to match up with TNT. It can create a water missile.
Redstone Block Boat - Activates TNT boats.
Lead and Adhesives - With lead and adhesives, you can connect boats and make water contraptions with them! You can use lead to tie boats with other boats, while the adhesive is like glue. Boats have 4 sides. If you select a side, the side will become yellowish white (color of the adhesive) and you can put a boat beside the side to connect it. You can connect furnace boats with chest boats and passenger boats to make a steerable transporter!
Saw an old topic about chest on boats and how "op" they would be.
Honestly, it's risk/reward. Put a chest on a boat,if the boat breaks, chest breaks and spills everything everywhere. I think it would be a great idea to eliminate the second slot of a boat to get utility.
I don't really like any of this I'm afraid. Chests on boats is a good idea (I voted for the swamp biome in the biome update which would have included a boat with a chest), but limiting it by putting an arbitrary weight system ruins it for me.
The TNT boat is an interesting idea, but again I think it is poorly thought out. It doesn't follow any kind of logic (real life logic or logic surrounding existing game mechanics). And at the end of the day it would just make more sense to ride a boat out to your target, plant TNT on it from your inventory, light it, then ride away.
Furnace boats are fine I guess. Except for the fact normal boats already move 8 blocks per second on flat water, at least according to the Wiki.
Redstone Block Boat: Makes more sense to just carry Flint and Steel.
Combining boats: Not a bad idea at all, but the mechanics aren't detailed enough for me to outright support it.

Thanks for the insight! I really never knew the true speeds of boats. Also, I'll try to update the combining mechanics. And about the chest weight system, I think it's kinda reasonable to make it sink less. Some people think it's op, so i kinda nerfed it. But the thing is, would a full chest slow a minecart down? Nope. I had second thoughts on nerfing. But again, Minecraft needs no physics.

Anyways, that's all for now!
note boat - carries books/maps
bootleg fishcenterlive
ideal for navigation!

Support.

I support the Chest and Furnace boats and attaching boats together with leads, but not the rest.
My suggestions: Enhancements - Throwable Fire Charges - On Phantoms and Elytra. Also check out The Minecraftian Language. This signature is not here to waste your space.
