An Amethyst lava bucket does not get destroyed when put into a furnace or a Powered Minecart.
Yea good idea, i think i might replace the bringing water into the nether with that because it is more useful, and notch didn't want water into the Nether obviously. So i'm asking for your permission to put this into the thread
Not a bad idea. The Iron-Diamond gap needs filling, though I prefer steel for that coloration makes adding steel difficult...
The bucket that doesn't get destroyed idea is a good expansion.
The amethyst could be crafted into decorative geodes?
I can't really think of any uses that aren't decorative. Maybe chips of amethyst could be used as a booster allowing furnaces to smelt faster?

Nice idea, the way i made the bucket wasn't satisfying at all. But i think i will add the not destroy-able bucket type thing.
This is awesome, Notch needs to add this now and we do need more minerals. Purple is also a freaking epic color. The purple on the ore needs to be a little darker too, it would look a lot better, I think all the things you could make with Amethyst should be a darker purple too. Although you did say light purple, I personally think its dark purple.
I don't want to flame or anything, but I'm getting pretty sick of all the threads with "a new ore tier between iron and diamond which can be crafted into the exact same things but in a different colour and includes some other materials making it special". It started getting...well, lame after a few days...Though I still like turning ores into ore blocks...

Ya man, i totally agree it does get sort of repetitive. However, it does need to be filled, and it needs to be special. Think about all the different things we could put in between those two because that gap is too large. I totally agree with you saying that this is sort of getting LAME...

I think it is a great idea but i thought of emerald for it because we have red (redstone) blue (lapiss) orange/gray (iron) light blue (diamonds) gems but no green ones yet but purple is also good, but i thought of emerald because that wasn't blueish.
Yea i totally agree we do need some green in minecraft. Maybe with decorations or something, but i thought emeralds would look weird as tools. Unless it was like adamantine or something of that sort. but in my opinion i'd look weird but amazing at the same time... lol that made no sense. Anyways thanks for all your supprots please support us even further by adding the banner to your signature!
If the ability to have colored lighting ever becomes a possiblity in Minecraft, perhaps amethyst gems could be combined with lightstone to produce large decorative amethyst crystals that give off purple light?
It also supposedly has healing powers (and was also thought to prevent intoxication from things like alcohol), so perhaps it could be crafted into some sort of healing item?
I have a .75 km roller coaster. I was thinking that instead of having a lever at every booster, I would have ONE lever that would affect all of the boosters simultaneously. I am about 1/8 of the the way done. YIPPEE!
I like the idea because Slyfox has a specific homie stone and amethyst is the homie stone... if you've heard of him you might know what im talking about :smile.gif:
Amethyst isn't that known, whereas silver, gold and diamond are. I think we should work on adding more well-known ores before we jump to Amethyst.
Any suggestions as what might fit better?
The only reason i chose Amethyst was because of its rating on the MOH hardness scale and it contains high amounts of sulfur. There aren't many well known minerals that would fit in as well with other uses than just weapons and armor. However i do feel that amethyst isn't as well known as the other ones.

Also, check me on youtube http://www.youtube.com/user/darksuperganon?feature=mhum
one of my thoughts though is the bucket perhaps it could be put into the furnace 5-10 times at max? so we dont have it being to overpowered
Oh my God. An idea that Ygdrasel actually likes!
agreed

Amethyst Hammer.
Multitasking tool.
Does everything that other tools do, but all at once.
Speed: You decide.
Durability: Run with it.
Etc, etc, etc.
