Yeah, I know. Ghosts, what a lame idea. But they won't spawn just whenever, and wherever. Here's how I thought it would work.
Say you just started a game. Then, a creeper came up behind you and bombed your ass. Then, a ghost of yourself would be created. Each time you die, a new ghost would be created. It would have 10 hearts, and same attacking power as you. But, if it is exposed to light, it won't attack. It if is dark, it will try and kill you. Once you kill it, it will be gone. The drop can be one of the items you were holding when you died. I'd say it always be in a 250 block radius from you, so it will be rare to find one, but you can still find one. Mobs won't attack it and it won't attack anything except you.
You know what? That's pretty sweet. Instead of just dying and leaving your loot, you'd have to fight to get it back. And it would add an interesting mob, too. But perhaps it should "haunt" the area where you died. Perhaps spawn a tombstone at the exact spot where you die (or the closest one if it was underwater/in lava) and the ghost couldn't wander more than a certain radius from that. Destroying the tombstone would kill the ghost but also destroy your items?

Anyone like it? :biggrin.gif:
You die; your ghost haunts you? Why would you want to kill you for dying? If your ghost kills you, doesn't this mean that you now have two ghosts?
Ima say no here.
