The magic tree is a sparkly tree that has blue leaves, pink wood and purple bark. It has a straight trunk, with four 'feet' around the bottom. The leaves form a ball. It can be made into magic tools, which are tools that sparkle, and act like wooden tools. The wood from the magic tree will sparkle. The tree will follow you, but turn into blocks when you are looking at it. It goes slower with less 'feet'
So... the tree's a mob? Is it hostile? What about it's health? Sounds? GUI? You need to include more detail. Consider renaming the thread "magic tree mob" or something, so we know what it is.
I'm not entirely against a tree mob, but it has to be implemented carefully. It should we slow and strong, living in a new "magic forest" biome if hostile or very rarely in forests if neutral.
I don't know whether to support this or not because of the lack of detail.
Yes, this sounds like an entity, and also how rare is it? And what is the use for the tools? Sparkling wooden tools sounds kind of useless unless they do something special. Although...in general, what is the point of a tree that follows you around? This does not seem to have any benefit for the player, gaming experience, or anything. Just seems like a tree that moves and can be made into pink wood and useless tools, in my opinion.
Lightning is an entity, doesn't have health. The entity just marks where the tree should appear when the player needs to interact with the tree.
So it's a moving tree that follows you around? What if it follows you home? Would it grief your base by joining into it? How do you stop it form moving? Do you have to chop it down to "kill" it?
Notice how I have to play detective just to get basic information. All of these answers should be in your OP. A picture would also help.

Then what happens if the entity is following the player and winds up in Lava or something like that? If the entity is invincible it would just drop to the bottom of the Lava and... Exist there.
Ultimately it seems overly complicated for a new tree that isn't useful.

Since this tree would be both an entity and a structure, it would require a lot of effort to implement. What about this tree is worthwhile enough for this to be a reasonable investment in time?

Then why does it move? If it moves then it is an entity, and requires all those things.
