This is a suggestion stripped to the bare minimum. There is no examples, no reasoning, no pictures. I'd prefer it if more effort was put into this, but I'll judge the suggestion for the idea rather than presentation.
This is a balanced object that serves an important but much needed feature. It makes sense within the context of the game and doe not mess with any systems already in place.
I would honestly really like this in the game. Though you could just, you know, break the bed you sleep in, it would be nice to have. However, I'm not too sure how functionally necessary this would be, since you can just sleep in a bed and break it at the moment.
I think you should add a recipe to the post, though. Here is what I think it should be:

Ehhhh... Sounds overpowered, because you can just skip the night even easier from anywhere...

How is this overpowered? Is it because the recipe doesn't require wood? You need wood for a crafting table, you know...
Currently, you can do the same thing that this is suggesting by just sleeping in a bed and breaking it.
True but the ability to do it without losing your spawn point is an advantage. If you break it then die you wind up at spawn which could be super far from where you died and your actual home.
I don't consider it too unbalanced though. It isn't a big deal.

Seems mostly pointless to me, and that slight disadvantage of setting your spawn point when a bed is used serves to discourage people from taking a bed everywhere with them and skipping part of the game every time it gets dark.
So no support from me, I think it's better the way it is now.

I explained why in the very post you quoted. A crafting table. Yeah. It's not very to get wood to make one..?

Hmmm, no. Burying yourself and staying there =/= skipping night altogether.

I still don't understand what you think is overpowered. You can't skip the night any easier with this than you can with a bed. The only difference between this and a bed is that 1. you don't have to break it for it to not set your spawn and 2. you can keep another spawn point you had before. And even those aren't really big deals.

Skipping the night can be a without setting your spawn point can be a massive advantage depending on where you are. You can skip the night effortlessly with beds, and even easier with sleeping bags. That comes off as a massive buff even though it doesn't look like that on paper.

I agree with you. If you have a house far away from world spawn, and you go wandering and need to sleep in a bed, you put it in a random place, sleep, and break it once you wake up. But if you have an unfortunate accident, you will end up at the faraway world spawn as 'your home bed was missing or obstructed'. Sleeping without changing spawn point is very useful.

Yeah. I don't really see the big deal. What's overpowered about players sleeping while keeping their home spawn?
Dude, he told you many times and it flew right over your head. He's saying beds are useful, and sleeping bags are little too useful. Hence the overpowered. That's what the 'big deal' is. There's such thing as "too much of a good thing" which the sleeping bag leans toward.
Does not set your spawn point, but lets you sleep. Comes in 16 colors, like beds. Crafted by putting 3 wool in a horizontal line.

You can already do that by burying yourself
Planetary travel
Chaostone
Whales and whalefalls

sometimes, nullposts must be made.
My avatar: Faiya the dragon
404: eggs not found
Hmm. Sounds very useful. That way if you go exploring and you can't find your way home, just kamikaze yourself.
I'd use this.
