I think that Minecraft should have an option to choose an area of things to put in your chest. If you hold left click and control, then drag your mouse, a movement (like when you hold and move your mouse on a windows desktop, it shows an adjustable square area to select files) will let you select items that you can drop in a chest, ender chest, etc...) If the chest becomes full, it will leave some items behind in your inventory. This function can be optional- you only hold control when you want to use it.
When I was playing a modded server with some friends one of the mods had this feature. It was so fluid and natural feeling that when I tried it on a vanilla world only to have it not work I was confused for a second because I had thought it was a vanilla feature I had just missed.
Absolutely support this.

drag-selection in Minecraft? That's a new one on me. There's a mod called MouseTweaks that sorta-kinda approximates the process (you hold down the mouse button and sneak and then drag it around, it autoclicks the items in slot by slot as you pass over them), and another mod called InventoryTweaks that lets you shift-doubleclick to add in all stacks of a given type, but I haven't heard of one that lets you select groups of slots.
There's also mods like Ender Utilities that lets you reserve slots in chests for specific items, but those are specialized containers rather than a global functionality for all containers.
Oh yes support. From the title I thought you would be suggesting a "drop all" and "take all" function in chests, but this is completely different. I like this idea.

The Quark mod adds these, in the form of 4 buttons on the left side of the inventory UI window. You can deposit all, merge (never used this one, I assume it's just a ""only put in items already in chest" thing?), withdraw all, and restock (only grabs items you have in your player inventory already.) It comes with a lazy-player far-reach ability so you don't have to necessarily worry about which chest they end up in or even walk up to the chest to actually open it but I don't think the "give me stuff" buttons allow for drive-by delivery.

Check out my suggestions! Here is one of them:
