I'm going to keep this short and to the point. LAN worlds should be added to older versions of minecraft so we can explore the old days with out friends. If it wasn't for LAN worlds I wouldn't have been able to create any of the memories I have made so far, so why not add some more. I've always wanted to be able to play these versions with my friends and I feel it could be a fairly simple add.
So, you're telling me that Microsoft and Mojang have no possible way to implement the LAN world feature into their older updates which they have records and files of already?
It's not a simple addition. The game is much past 1.3, so adding anything to a pre-1.3 version is impossible without mods.
This wouldn't be surprising behavior from Mojang to be fair. It's a shame that the game has strayed from its original simplicity. Is there anyway that you guys know I could possibly play with a friend privately? I've tried to make a server but I have not been able to find the file for the version Beta 1.7.

True, it should be quite easy for them to implement the feature in, however, I wouldn't be 100% certain they'd add it in.

Yeah, it'd necessitate a second dev team to keep the previous versions up-to-date which would bloat the budget.
This is also running on the assumption that Mojang keeps all source code for all versions which may not be the case. If they didn't keep the source code; it'd be a major rewrite which would be a huge time sink for a team that could otherwise be doing other things... OR... they could outsource the job to another company to handle it; which would involve money trading hands for a truly negligable gain. This is for a title that has hit market saturation years ago.
There's an industry term called "ROI" or Return On Investment. It's basically a metric used to determine if the energy you put into an objective is going to yield a positive gain.
It's like a burger joint opening a soup kitchen to feed the homeless. The shop incurs a cost by operating for free; but the hope is that they'll gain publicity and positive PR for their attempt (assuming altruism is the face of ulterior motives). It's like a major publisher purchasing a well-known video game developer who's major selling game is already starting to stagnate in sales in hopes that the publicity will reinforce both brands without it horrifically backfiring.
In this case, if I was speaking for Mojang (I'm not, just being pragmatic here), the ROI would be very costly. They would likely be better off putting a stack of money on the table and lighting it on fire to keep them warm during those Stockholm winters.

Watch out for the crabocalypse. Some say the day will never come. But it will.
Feel free to drop by for a chat whenever.
If you'd like to talk with me about other games, here are a few I play.
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands series (Borderlands 2 is my favorite game, ever. TPS combat is a lot of fun and makes up for the lower-quality story, in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls series
Warframe (IGN is something like That_One_Flesh_Atronach)
Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Rocket League
Fallout series
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
Just Cause series
Come to think of it, I mainly play fighting-based games.

I don't think this would be done as Mojaing really doesn't support previous versions of MineCraft | Anymore, that is,
