Ygdrasel, Zygrograxgra, please keep flaming out of the thread.
In addition, I don't think a succubus is much of a danger anyways. More of a perk.
With being on-topic, you can really only use beds if you're safe from monsters anyways. This is no different than going afk with your minecraft on while you wait for the night to pass, except its now in item format. Before beds, I just opened up my inventory then alt-tabbed out while waiting for night to pass. Now I actually utlize them, and continue playing.
With that being said, it's the same as any other item in minecraft -- If you don't want it, don't use it.
What I meant by this mob is even when your deep inside your house that is well lit with no possibility of mobs getting in you look like your waking up but then for a couple seconds its like your in water and have run out of air and you might hear an evil sounding muhahaha. Truth be told I kind of got inspiration for this from, Sadly, A pokemon move. Dream Eater.

This only punishes people who want to get something one quicker. I can either wait 10 minutes with my inventory open and not incur this risk, or I could risk getting hit with this idea.
As of right now, this idea only takes away from the bed: No one will want to use this because of this unmitigable property. Even if there was a way to prevent this from happening, people would either overcome this penalty to continue using th bed, or decide its not worth it and either AFK through the night, or just continue working through the night as they did before beds. If this was just an ambient noise made to creep you out, this would be solid.

My suggestion, nightmares are rare. If they are like mini missions, if you fail it wouldn't affect your health, just give you a negative effect on something i.e. slower mining for 1/2 a day. Even if it damaged 1 or 2 of your health, i wouldn't care (I have a full large chest of meat)
I'm not sure where this "beds are cheap" thing is coming from. People do realize that you could already just close the door and sit out the night in perfect safety, right? All the bed adds is skipping some time without going AFK from the game. And as long as there are creepers, day-time cannot really be called "safe".
I do like the idea of dreams/nightmares though, maybe not every night, but some of the time. Actually, it would be interesting if you could influence the chance with special beds: gold pillow for more dreams, soul-sand pillow for more nightmares.

I agree. I think that some people get bored during the night waiting for sunrise. I also think the dreams would add some depth to them.
Just a few weeks before the new bed came out I was talking to a friend about possibly having beds in Minecraft. But I thought it might have been a little cheap to have it just warp to the next day with no dangers. So I thought a new mob could be made that you don't ever see but may sometimes attack you when you sleep. Almost like a nightmare but you loose a couple hearts and see a restless sleep animation.
There is a bug where you can be waken up by a mob, this happened to me like 3 times and I had a VERY lit-up cabin which my bed was in.
In my opinion, there should NOT be a mob waking you up.

Yes but then the beds would be cheap, you could just escape the dangers of night.
On-Topic:
If anything has to happen, let a mysterious... "Thing" destroy a torch near your bed as you sleep. Since you won't be safe if you try to sleep in an area that isn't well-lit, you'll be greeted by a monster when you wake up.
Something like that.
... Confession time: I only posted to make the fellatio joke.

Are you always so pessimistic?
Yes, yes I am. A pessimist is always either right, or pleasantly surprised.

Egads..this is World of Warcraft meets Battlefield 1942 in a dark alley with way too much to drink and no discarded mattress nearby.
Bogeyman? :biggrin.gif:
Chance of flashing a monster while you are on your bed.
Then cause your screen to start shaking while still awake at night.
oh and your aiming goes off.

To close it? It would kick it. To open, Hmm. He kicks it and it magically opens.

Love it. Maybe if you win the side mission you will find a special item in your inventory (if you have space) If not you might find it on the floor?

Exactly, or a perk.
