greetings peasants and kings-men, ladies and gentlemen! it is i! the one and only... Decay! the witherer! behold my magnificence, and despair.
today, i would like to bring to your attention the bizarre behavior, and quite unpleasant wall climbing animation for minecraft's creepiest mob, the Spider (and cave spider) i mean, why is this awesomely creepy mob just derpily floating up a wall as if it where still on the ground? today, this needs to be fixed. the spider (and cave spider) should turn its belly to the wall when climbing up it, not unlike how mods such as mo' bends have implemented it. you don't even really need the fancy leg animation like mo' bends does, all you need is for it to ACTUALLY CRAWL UP THE WALL, wake up Mojang, your game after all these updates, still isn't Finished!, help me get this popular enough to be placed on Reddit so we can end this silliness involving the spider!
also, as Chameleonred had said, the AI needs to change to fit the aesthetic tweak as well.
If they're going to add this they should also change the AI a bit to be capable of moving smoothly along the wall, rotating and jumping when appropriate. As it is now it'd seem to just glide up the wall awkwardly
so, some details about the animations... the spider, when transferring from floor to wall, or wall to ceiling, would lift its front legs up and pull itself up (or across) and in a creepy manner, would then trigger the other 2 sets of legs to do the same, one after another. the jump animation would utilize the legs a lot more (not quite like mo' bends, but very close) when jumping it would lift its two front legs up and swipe them down as it lands from its jump, it will now also like to get the higher ground, the way the slightly new AI will work is kind of complicated, but i'm sure the Mojang devs can handle pretty much anything at this point (except fixing lag, they suck when it comes to doing that) lol, i digress, the spider would test if there was a higher surface around it when it is in aggressive mode, and it detected a player, and attack initially from there, if there is one... (for example: if it detects you in a cave) it will climb to that higher surface before pouncing on you, and attacking as it does now, just with better animation.
so, now for a speculative scenario of how spooky caves would be after Mojang updated their spiders, if they were to...
imagine you are going down a cave, you are in mid-game and have a good set of iron armor and tools, you head down a cave which makes a u-turn around itself, you can hear a spider nearby... but you can't see it, so you go ahead and turn the corner, only to find the spider jumping on top of you from the cave ceiling!
(note: some people seem to think that i don't know Mojang doesn't check these forums and that i didn't know what these forums are for, but originally, i had stated as soon as i got enough support that i'd polish the suggestion up and post it on Reddit, it must also be noted that people keep saying my introduction is unnecessary and to this i say, GIVE UP! i am NOT i repeat, i am NOT changing it, so deal with it or don't comment on my thread.
if anyone, and i mean ANYONE, posts to here mentioning my "unnecessary" introduction, i will have a moderator delete it as spam, as it has been said too many times than i can count, similarly, i have repetitively said that i do NOT care, and i do not have the time to deal with it as of now, so i'll let the professionals handle it.)

I think you're making a bit too big a show out of what's basically just a minor aesthetic tweak.
If they're going to add this they should also change the AI a bit to be capable of moving smoothly along the wall, rotating and jumping when appropriate. As it is now it'd seem to just glide up the wall awkwardly.
This has my support on the condition that the AI changes as well.
I can see this looking a bit ridiculous when spiders navigate across uneven terrain as they'd likely go sideways then vertical out of nowhere, and potentially some weird 'squeezing around corner' bugs. Cool aesthetic idea but given how MC works I could see it looking ridiculous. Sorta Support

And who are you, the proud lord said, that I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat, that's all the truth I know.
In a coat of gold or a coat of red, a lion still has claws,
And mine are long and sharp, my lord, as long and sharp as yours.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall, and not a soul to hear.
not as ridiculous as they are now, also i can see them coding it so that it only occurs when the spider encounters a 2 or more block tall obstacle, so i ask you, should i update the op to say this or is it fine as-is?
Full support, in my opinion spiders are just as derpy as squids, so it makes sense to at least change the one that you see more often.
Also I hope that this change would be implemented properly because the concerns that the others have are valid. The animation might make the hitbox and AI a bit wonky. However, it can't be any more wonky than it is now. No more spiders getting stuck on walls, and then getting unstuck for seemingly no reason and scaring the heck outta you!
greetings peasants and kings-men, ladies and gentlemen! it is i! the one and only... Decay! the witherer! behold my magnificence, and despair. This. Is. Unnecessary.
today, i would like to bring to your attention the bizarre behavior, and quite unpleasant wall climbing animation for minecraft's creepiest mob, the Spider (and cave spider) i mean, why is this awesomely creepy mob just derpily floating up a wall as if it where still on the ground? I... actually may have a genuine answer for that. It'd probably be a pain to keep the spider from climbing indefinitely and into a ceiling, so the game places special ladders in Spider hitboxes so they can climb when adjacent to a block. today, this needs to be fixed. the spider (and cave spider) should turn its belly to the wall when climbing up it, not unlike how mods such as mo' bends have implemented it. The Mo' Bends spider is creepy. Even for me, and almost nothing creeps me out. Not a very good idea for an ages 10+ game. you don't even really need the fancy leg animation like mo' bends does, all you need is for it to ACTUALLY CRAWL UP THE WALL, wake up Mojang, Mojang doesn't look on these forums. your game after all these updates, still isn't Finished!, help me get this popular enough to be placed on Reddit so we can end this silliness involving the spider! These forums are meant to polish the idea enough so Mojang may add it. If you wanted, you could put it on Reddit right now, but no guarantee Mojang will read/like it.
also, as Chameleonred had said, the AI needs to change to fit the aesthetic tweak as well. This'd be a good thing.

Responses in bold. It would be a nice aesthetic change, but you were too dramatic in your post. And as rkpkid1997 said, the AI and hitbox would need to change accordingly. We can't have spiders suffocating in walls now, can we? And we can't have them as one-block wide, ruining most of our spider proofing.
But I also don't like it because I always had the idea that Minecraft spiders used their webs to climb up walls, hence why there's no animation. And that's just as immersive as your idea. And the Mo' Bends.
What I'd do about the animation is make a new animation for spiders. Simply rotate the model 90° upward, so it looks up. Make the legs move back and forth (possibly randomly), sit still when no players are nearby, and play that whenever the spider is on a wall.
Overall, I'd say 50% support.

If you'd like to talk with me about other games, here are a few I play.
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands series (Borderlands 2 is my favorite game, ever. TPS combat is a lot of fun and makes up for the lower-quality story, in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls series
Warframe (IGN is something like That_One_Flesh_Atronach)
Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Rocket League
Fallout series
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
Just Cause series
Come to think of it, I mainly play fighting-based games.
After seeing that image, there's no way I can not support.

too big of a show? i appreciate the support but if i didn't make my post's contain an over-dramatic flare it wouldn't be one of my posts! xP
i edited the op, btw.
Yeah, it's hard to take any suggestion seriously when the first thing you read is 'greetings peasants' =P
As unprofessional as the execution of this suggestion is, I rather like what's actually being suggested.

its mean't to have a comedic element, but again i appreciate the support.
Heh due to my obsession over spiders in minecraft I give this my full support

i have taken all of your thoughts into account, and updated the OP... your welcome
I don't think mojang will ever implement a climbing animation for spiders
