5% of Skeletons that spawn in either deserts or mesas will become a new version of them with yellowish bones and an orange cloak called Mirages.
(Just pretend it's holding a bow, okay?)
They're very similar to regular skeletons, as they have 20 health points(x10), deal the same amount of damage and attack by shooting arrows. Unlike skeletons however, they do not strafe, but rather have the ability to disappear, and reappear anywhere in a 5 block radius, they have a higher chance of disappearing if the difficulty is higher. This ability won't work if they're in water or under the rain.
In addition to dropping bones, arrows and bows, half of the time they will drop a new item called Mirage Cloak.
It can be worn in the chestplate slot and has 50 durability points. When worn, it allows you to stay invisible as long as you're not moving, if you hit, get hit, use an item/block, jump or walk you will turn visible again.
You could say this is redundant due to the Potion of Invisibility, but that's an item you normally use to confuse your enemies, making them have to follow your particles if they wanna hit you. The mirage cloak on the other hand, is not something you should use in battle, because...well, it has low durability and it wouldn't work if you were battling anyways, it's rather something more strategic, that allows you to sneak in enemy bases without being seen, as long as you're not moving.
I know this is mostly useful in Multiplayer, the Invisibility Potion also is, but this also allows you to not be seen by mobs, unless you've already aggravated them.
This is a nice idea, I like it a lot. I feel like the skeletons dropping the cloak half the time might be a bit high, but it isn't too overpowered, so it might not be a problem. Another question I have is, does it slowly degrade while you're using it like an Elytra? If so, you may want to increase the hit points, but that's just an idea.

The cloak only degrates when you're hit, and yeah I might de-crease the drop rate.
As for me, eh. If I want to be invisible I can just use potions. And why would Deserts get a unique Zombie and a unique Skeleton, while Tundras only get a unique Skeleton and no Zombie? Better find another biome for this!
I cleared up the difference between this and potions in the thread itself, and really? There are tons of zombie variations while skeletons only have 2(3 with this suggestion) and that's just not a good reason to not support something.
The idea isn't bad, I just would rather it not be a Skeleton. It could be something more related to the End (teleportation is kind of their thing), but the possibilities for a cool creature are nearly endless and yet it is another Skeleton.

Good point, I'll see if I'm able to come up with anything else. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Well I was kind of thinking, since this mob teleports and wears this cloak that can turn invisible, it could be some kind of phantom or ghost. Maybe it could open it's cloak when you throw or shoot something at it and the cloak "catches" the projectile and then the mob teleports and fires it back at the player. That combined with it teleporting if you get close could make it a tougher mob to deal with, which is good considering the item it drops is pretty neat.

I think it should work a little like the cloak and dagger from tf2 to balance it out at bit.
I do personally understand what this means, so let me explain what he wants.
The CaD lets you turn invisible. Whenever you move, the charge goes down, and when you stay still it recharges. The Mirage Cloak's durability would decrease when you move, but when you stay still it would stay the same for balance purposes.

Watch out for the crabocalypse. Some say the day will never come. But it will.
Feel free to drop by for a chat whenever.
If you'd like to talk with me about other games, here are a few I play.
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands series (Borderlands 2 is my favorite game, ever. TPS combat is a lot of fun and makes up for the lower-quality story, in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls series
Warframe (IGN is something like That_One_Flesh_Atronach)
Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Rocket League
Fallout series
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
Just Cause series
Come to think of it, I mainly play fighting-based games.

I like the idea a lot. The Mirage Cloak may be a little too easy to get, but apart from that, Support!
Not everyone has played TF2, you know.

Support! But... I feel like it should have details, the mirage cloak I mean, like, can the mirage cloak be enchanted? Like armor?
But over all, SUPPORT!
