Zombies are very easy creatures to beat. Skeletons shoot at you and spiders can climb walls. Enderman teleport and creepers explode Baby ZOMBIES have the annoying speed and moves to make them hard to hit and not to ignore their size. Zombies... they can spawn with armor, turn villagers hostile and break down doors only in hard mode? Zombies are a joke all of their tricks can be easily countered because they are so easy to defeat. Skeletons can come with armor so that doesn't make zombies special and zombies turning villagers hostile is only a problem in villages. It has a rare chance anyway because they go into their houses and if you happen to be in a village on hard mode at night time only then can zombie break down doors. Zombies should be more interesting, and that is where my suggestion comes in.
Zombies need to work together with other mobs or multiple zombies at once.
Zombies should find a nearby group of zombies or other mobs and travel to attack the player. If you see a zombie that means he has friends. Zombies can form into big groups of other zombies or a small group of other mobs. Zombies can become very social to use that to their advantage. Now if there is different mobs in a group the more zombies in that group means the harder the group will be. The more zombies means more teamwork between mobs. How big these groups can be should be determined by difficulty. Example Easy = 3 zombies or 1 zombie and 2 others, and hard mode meaning 8 zombie groups and 3 zombies with 5 other mobs. The longer the night goes without killing the zombies in the area the harder it will get. Zombies should spawn alone, but they take a bit to form groups. A bit longer for those groups to reach their max. Watch your back for that zombie that doesn't seem worth it to kill because it may come back with more and you will regret it!
When you are killed by a zombie a new zombie should spawn in your place.
You are confronted by a group of zombies and are killed. There were three zombies and they got into your house. You come back and a fourth zombie is found sharing your skin with its arms up just like a zombie. Now if a zombie comes with different mobs and another mob kills you not a zombie you don't get a new zombie spawned in. Zombies should try to get the last hit though.
Zombies spawn with materials.
When forming a group it can craft armor pieces like helmets to skeletons and other zombies to share. They don't use any on themselves because they prefer to share with other mobs. If another zombie comes in contact with the zombie they will equip armor for each other and attack.
Zombies can become a better encounter when it comes to a good challenge. It would give you a good reason to get rid of zombies in the night! Watch your back you may have an attack on your hands! Better be prepared and prevent the next one.
These are all good ideas, and I quite like them, except there's one problem: zombies aren't meant to be hard. They're basically the grunt enemies of this game. They don't give a good amount of exp, and the only thing they drop is useless except for an emergency food source. (Sorry if this sounds harsh.)
Like 2scoops said, zombies aren't meant to be hard mobs. Besides, zombies have been getting their difficulty increased. Zombies can set players on fire if ignited, can spawn more zombies, and will call other zombies to help it if attacked. I think they're difficult enough for the most common hostile mob in the game. Making them harder would be unfair to new people, considering that Minecraft is meant to be a highly accessible game.
