I really think we should have backpacks. How we would make them is: 8 pieces of leather, and in stead of using our inventory, we could use these. How to equip them: when they're in your 9-optioned inventory: go to it, place it, then right click on it. Once your done with it, hop on top of it to obtain it again.
Backpack suggestions were already extremely overdone and redundant - soon they will be even more so.
Here are some of the amazing things that Shulker boxes will let you do in 1.11, presuming that Mojang does not nerf them:
With the introduction of Shulker Boxes, storing loads of items has become far easier. With it's special ability of retaining all of it's contents when broken and placed, they act similar to an Ender Chest.
However, there is no limit to the amount of Shulker Boxes you can possess, which means that you can fill up an entire Double Chest with these to gain a large 1404(54x27-54) total slots of available chest storage.
Alternatively, you can fill up your Ender Chest to gain up to 702(27x27-27) total slots Ender Chest storage.
You can also fill your entire Inventory with Shulker Boxes(37x27-37) to gain a whopping 962 slots of inventory storage.
How about an Ender chest AND your inventory? That's an incredible 1,728 slots (1,674 if you sacrifice a couple slots so you can carry the Ender chest and a Silk Touch pickaxe. Note that the above is how many additional slots you gain, hence the 27x27-27, while the total slots is just 27x27) - capable of holding as many as 110,592 items! If each of those items were a block like coal blocks (each one is equivalent to 9 more items) it increases further to 995,328 - nearly one million items (and that's not all - gold blocks can be crafted into 81 nuggets...)!
Sure, backpack mods let you carry even more, as I used one myself for a while and I had 4 backpacks each with a double chest of storage (you could also make backpacks equivalent to a normal chest) - but do you really need that much?

Isn't this exactly how you use a shulker box except for the weird hopping that makes no sense? No support

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
So backpacks are reskinned unplacable shulker boxes?
Nah

Redundant: Use the Shulker Box.
Overpowered: Would obsolete the Shulker Box due to its availability.
