Based on an idea/request by joshosh34 (personally I almost never make custom settings worlds, but I appreciate the feature being there)
Currently we have tons of custom world settings to choose from. I won't elaborate here on the need for many of these settings to be less "guru tech oriented" i.e. directly changing deep-gen-code variables to tweak results, instead of easy "5 years old can guess and understand what they do" settings. That is another topic entirely.
This suggestion here is to have custom world settings not only for the Overworld, but for the Nether too.
I know the Nether is currently a bit "bland" what with only one infernal biome and not a ton of variety in it, but that is also discussion for another topic.
Here are a few of the settings that could exist:
- Same as in the Overworld, the "'direct internal variable tweaking" obscure settings. Personally, I am not a big fan of those, quite on the contrary in fact, but hey, we might as well add the custom Nether settings in the exact same fashion as the Overworld custom settings, if only for the sake of interface design consistency. Those would affect tons of stuff from tunnels size density amount and thickness of plateaus etc. Amount and size of Quartz veins and Glowstone "veins". etc.
- Can change the "zoom factor" between Overworld and Nether. Default stays at x8.
- Turn on/off lava oceans and change the general amount of "volcanism" (i.e. lava sources).
- Spacing between Nether fortresses, and their average size.
- Change floor and ceiling height (max 256), and lava ocean height.
- Maybe change the default ground blocks -- Imagine parts of the nether with same nether shape, but netherrack would be normal stone.
I won't touch settings for multiple biomes in the Nether because that would not be a custom setting, that would be adding an actual new feature to that dimension.

Yeah,I can get behind this.
Support.
